Well I didn't get my piercing done purely on the merit of looks - I got it done to "make a fresh start" after the end of an atrocious academic year.

I lost a lot of confidance due to various things that happened and doing something dramatic like cutting off a lot of my hair and getting a piercing was just the boost I needed to get back on my feet

And @ everyone who's asked: She doesn't have any loss of taste, it hasn't done any damage to her teeth, and it is by and large unnoticeable unless you really look for it.

As for nipple piercings (which my wife does not have, by the way, but I know a couple women who do), they report much greater sensitivity to that area. There are fringe benefits too, but probably only of interest to a narrow percentage of you and explaining it might expose me to prosecution by the FBI's internet anti-obscenity/S&M task force, to say nothing of being modded to a smoking hole in the ground.

Funny you should mention....Rik was concerned about his cultural borders that weekend from the photo and it wasn't me.

Oh, and a warning on tongue piercing- firstly it came appart when i was driving on motorway- not fun trying to find it in mouth ( i was eating) and spit it all out at 80mph!

Also, later that day (eating again) at tea time, i realised asi was swallowing the top barbel.. thats why im now having to use my skull one instead of my normal/plain one.

Well ive never dated a girl with more than pierced ears, so dont have me down as a fetishist, and my tongue was only pierced a few months ago, so all i have dated previous to that obviously didnt care.

Also, i dont know how you can judge it odd to have a lip-disc if you do not understand the culture. Within the lip-disc culture it is vital for the females to have such a disc, or they are not considered fertile. I was saying i probably would within a culture that demands it.

Why do you dress up, wear aftershave etc when going out? Sure its not as extreme, but why not just go out unshaved in your soggies?

Well I can certainly describe a number of cosmetic habits in the western world in such unsavoury ways.

E.g. aftershave = an expensive, corrosive, abrasive, toxic acid designed to attract women.

The only thing I find comparable in the West is male circumcision. Another completely pointless and unnecessary ritual mutilation. The excessive piercing some people get into is ritual mutilation.

How about plastic surgury? That is pretty prevalent these days.
