Got a minor error when I was building the magic (rather then alch) guild and spreading it: it called for music that was called, I believe, /anonymoussantamaria. Message passed by pretty quick due to some iron spam, though.
That is strange. This file is just medieval soundtrack, no connection to Circle of Eight.
It is the more strange as it should come with vanilla civ (comes with mine).
Was I hearing a bit of Planescape: Torment music in there? I didn't catch Deionarra theme or the Smothering Corpse, though, which I still think are the two best pieces.
Yes, there is fall from grace, ignus, fortress of regrets and some more (including civic festhall... ;) )
Smoldering corpse theme is great, I just did not think it fits any of the religions or ers. And simply forgot about deionarra, there was so much music I heard preparind the soundtrack
got several OOS errors in multiplayer. not sure how to specify or isolate the exact source though...
Were these very often? I hope that game will be at least more multiplayer-frindly now...
Welp, my first game as the dao has now ended, on about turn 20, and here's what I got;
When a melee unit garrisons a fort, they gain 1 ranged attack, but no ability to use ranged attacks.
the Dao leader Rualon gives a text_key_popup when she dies.
The whirlwind graphic on the Air Shrine, and fireball on Fire Shrine, moves all over the place when you move the camera around and aren't fixed in the center of it.
I do not think there is much I can do with the graphics - save for changing for another one...
Will fix the text.
Ranged attack is intentional, it will enhance archers & siege. Melee get other bonuses from garrison - you may call me lazy for adding just one promotion, I might split it for display (do not think it causes any issues)
Weird one - after leaving WB I have whole map revealed (tiles are marked as not revealed). I just see whole map.
Other than that, maybe it's just me but Orbis is running very unstable - can't move unit (Bannor), can't end turn (Bannor, Amurietes). Game just crashes to desktop without any message (even standard windows one).
EDIT: Happens with other civs as well... something must be wrong with mine game, as KrugSmash was able to play 20 turns. Tried old version and it runs ok. I can move scout but can't move settler.
EDIT 2: I'm missing icons in lower part of the screen (build city and so on) so something is wrong with my install, but I have no idea what :/
Can't get a single game to run. I was playing the last current version of Orbis patched up. After installing this version and updating with Dao patch it crash right away.
I was still getting late game crashes consistently (but at different spots) with Orbis and a few with FfH2. I never upload saves as i usually play on Huge maps. Maybe i need to just reinstall everything?
Additional tests shows that the quickfix is not to blame. The "crash at move" is still there in base 1.0. Still random, sometimes a unit can move and sometimes it crashes. Since unit sound bytes are random I would suspect that. Will re-download 1.0 to make sure it wasn't corrupted in transit.
:( :( :(

I know not what to say. It runs fine on my machine, I played till turn 220 while uploading. The only crash I got was happening after closing the game (it does not seem to close properly some times).
Lack of icons indicates python problem. You have python exceptions turned off, right? Can you please try turning these on and tell me what info you get?

The whole thing is strange... I remeber that Kalina had problems with wrong promotions avaliable which I could not fix. My only idea is to try reinstall civ (including removing any remianing folders and restarting machine) and then install all Civ and Orbis again. I simply do not know what is wrong as it is fine here.
But just to be sure, I will now install it on another machine. Should take just a few minutes.

EDIT: Ok, just tried it. Played Dao for 25 turns with no single trouble
I am downloading the install now, will check if it was not corrupted when uploading.

One more thing - check your documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword directory. Sometimes something in there is breaking games, too.
You may just delete the whole folder I think, even if not reinstalling. And even more if reinstalling. There are no vital files except for ini, which will be recreated. You may try to delete Fall from Heaven 2 folder in the same directory too, but backup it first, as this is where the trophies are stored.

Working fine for me, too (Win7 x64).

Only significant problem encountered so far: Mapscript MountainCoast is crashing during startup.
Minor Problem: Starting locations seem not to be flavoured, aren't they supposed to be?
Miniscule Problem: Letum Frigus Popup icon is displayed as pink circle.

Great music selection!

Reinstalled it on different computer, one where Civilization was never installed before. It happens there also... it makes no sense, if download was corrupted it should be problem for all of us, not only for few.

Hmmm... Well for me it's actually good news to hear that it works alright on your system Ahwaric. It means that it's a simple problem. One problem indicates that the mod is using a cvgamecoredll.dll that is not compatible with the latest patch. That sounds very odd considering that the Orbis version before this one worked just fine.

Error details:

AppName: civ4beyondsword.exe
AppVer: 3.1.9.0

ModName: cvgamecoredll.dll
ModVer: 3.1.7.0

But it would explain why some people have the problem and some don't though. *Scratches head* Don't worry about it Ahwaric. I'm sure we'll be able to sort this out soon enough.

*More head-scratching* Well that didn't pan out... Could it be something even simpler perhaps? Like using "wrong" install directory? That would also explain why this problem only occurs for some people.

I have tried it on two machines - one over 2 year old desktop with vista, the other new notebook with W7. Both x64.

Have you tried to enable python error messages?

I will take a look at the gamecore. But I am using the same base as for 24p (FfH 41j). Not sure why it would start making trouble now.
I have installed Civ on different partitions (F & G), in a folder right on top. One is named Civilization IV, the other Civilzation IV (made a typo during install ). The structure inside the folder should be the same for everyone. The only thing that can make a difference here is installing on non-system disc.

I have updated dao quickfix - now it contains defeat texts and some fixes to new civs worldspells, as well as fix for the icon thingie. I think flavourmod works fine. Will take a look at and the mapscript.

I am glad you like the music :)

Got this python error:

NameEror: global name UNIT_AIR_ELEMENTAL is not defined

dont have new quickfix so it might be fixed

dao seem to working otherwise

EDIT: it seems quickfix should do the trick, sorry

Yeah, your right Ahwaric. Game install is solid. Damn this is confusing. And somewhat frustrating. No bugs anywhere that I can see. Heck, it might be the smoothest new stand alone install you ever made.

It's such an odd bug. Everything displays as it should. No graphic errors that I can find. Running an Nvidia 8600 by the way. It's just that there's a very high frequency (more than 80% I would say) of a CTD when you make a unit move. And it's not the movement animation itself.

I'll keep further speculation for myself I think. *Keeps poking the code to see if something falls out*

Seems you managed to create a mod that not only runs fine on Vista/7, but runs fine on nothing but Vista/7 :p

Just booted up my XP on the same machine, same Orbis installation, et voila: Parts of the UI are missing, crash after turn 1 :crazyeye:

How can I do this?

Go to your My Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword folder and set this line in the CivilizationIV.ini: HidePythonExceptions = 0

EDIT: You might want to be a bit careful with this though. Just had my machine stall when I started Orbis. I think that's a good indication that there is a Python Exception at the root of this. In retrospect I should have checked that first. Oh well...

Damn!
That is what happens if you get rid of your old stuff. I do not have my old machine that used xp any more... Guess I will have to find one.
You have two OS installed on one machine, right? I might try to do the same thing. If someone with xp machine can take a look, it would be great.

Are there any error messages?

Well that's something disconcerting if anything was. But you're right. This seems to be caused by a UI problem, though why on earth is it so random? Wonder if windows 7 have some kind of built in function that overrides this error?

Yepp, Dual-Boot WinXP SP3 x86 / Win7 x64.

No windows error messages, no Python Exceptions (turned on), just plain CTD.

Bleargh! Just had a really bad crash in my computer but this time something new did pop up, so perhaps it was worth it. Loaded a game instead of starting a new one. This time Python Pop Up activated. A lot. Same message on all pop ups though.

Ok, so the problem was identified as XP UI.

Good, now only to try what exactly is causing it.
Can you please try the attached dlls? It might help. No tests as I have nothing to test on, just a hunch...

First try the CvGameCoreDLL.zip, then if it does not help CvGameCoreDLL 2202.zip. I am trying to find the exact code (or when I added it in the second case)

Same here, after REALLY activating the Python Pop-Ups.

Maybe not a bug: Defeated Hill Giant and got an Orc slave. If intended I s'pose the Giant was killed and the Orcs are survivors of his retinue.

Bug persists with the CvGameCoreDLL.zip but is removed with the CvGameCoreDLL 2202.zip

I quickly ran 20 turns just to make sure. Besides some issues with missing portraits everything seems very stable. Not even spamming lair exploration created oddities.

That's a due to some very old code I think. Hill giants were more closely tied to the orcs in early FFH and already spawned orc slaves back then. I guess no one really thought about it. Much the same reason why the broken "burn the witch" event chain is still found in FFH and all the modmods.

Your rationalization is a good one though. Too bad only the Dovellio can set slaves free, by upgrading them into proper warriors.
