I love it!!

24 miles/hour. Brilliant. Now I have something to shout at the TV next time I watch one of the greatest movies of all time. :D

Not as exciting as African or European Swallows, but...

Netherlands beat Cuba at the World Championships in Baseball!

My German team is also doing well, winning their first ever game at a baseball world championship - a 2-0 against Thailand. :bounce:
They also lost to Cuba by a mere 3-7. :wow:

A big round of Congrats is due to Niklas!!

Congratulations to Niklas for the highest Firaxis score of the update with a Tiny Demigod Domination game for 18328 points.

Congratulations to Niklas for wining G-III Tau with a 1425BC win.

[party] way to go!

This Root Beer is for you!
;)

oh - and Automated Teller also!

AutomatedTeller with a 410 AD Huge Emperor Domination game for 10535 points.

Now - we have no excuse for losing this MTDG... since we clearly have the best players :)

Thanks a lot, General_W! And Aigburth should be congratulated too, for taking the bronze in the G-III Tau, after me and Chamnix! :)

But I will have to state again what I've said before - give me an AI to play against and I'll most likely do very well, but I'm a rookie against other human players... :scared:

Wee, Sweden qualified for the European Cup! [party]

Congratulations to our Dutch and German council members (who were already qualified before today), see you in the alps! And massive commiserations to our English and Norwegian friends who missed out by the smallest possible margins. :wow:
(EDIT: Oh, and Scots and Welsh and North Irish too if there are any.)

...and to our american friends and all others in the world for being not qualified for geographical reasons

congrats to Sweden! :goodjob:

Yes, congrats to Sweden! (though I would like to have seen NI qualify)

Watching England these days is a miserable experience, I'm almost glad we didn't qualify! I had little confidence the current management would have achieved much in the championships, so maybe now we can have a rethink over how things are run, well thats the hope anyway!

Are we talking about European football here? - I think I’ve heard of the game.
We call it “Beckham and that spice girl” over here… or is it “soccer”? … I’m easily confused. :)

;)

I am sitting in front of this laptop writing a paper I don't want to write about something I don't care about. Only the beer I am drinking makes it bearable. I quit high school thirty years ago when I was 16. Why the heck did I decide to go back to school? :crazyeye:

Well, the Council is my last refuge in CivFanatics. It's a great place to be. :) I don't even mind so much my terrible position in the Diplomacy game nor the fact that I'm way outclassed in the pbem. We've got a great group.

And I notice the Council is highly represented in the Civ III GOTMs. Niklas and Automated Teller posting in the pre-game thread for the Polynesian Sid game. I never dared play Sid level before but I'm looking forward to this COTM. But I have vowed not to start it until this final paper of the semester is done. So... :whipped:

PS - How about a Council COTM 43 challenge? The Council member playing and submitting COTM 43 who gets the best score gets a city named after him. Any Council members submitting a COTM 43 game get a frigate named after them. gives me crazy ideas - I wonder how this paper will look in the morning...

Well, it’s bed time for me here on the west-coast of the USA, I was just skimming our forum before bed – saw your note – and thought I’d say, “Good luck on the paper! And good for you going back to school. Have a cold one for me  ”

:)

Wow - I can't imagine writing a paper. I'm 35, and I think the last paper I wrote was my essay for college applications. So that's, what, 17, 18 years ago?!

In college I was an Ancient Languages major, so I just had to do a lot of translation. Never papers :D

I would do the CoTM, excepting that I don't have Civ3 :( But I can root you all on!

I haven't dared start the COTM yet (or rather I'm keeping myself busy completing the CIV GOTM first, it's much quicker). I'm all for a COTM43 Challenge though, but I'll be hard-pressed to win that game. My money's on AutomatedTeller, he sure has the most experience at that level.

About writing papers, I'm a PhD student so I have to write scientific papers quite a lot. And even though the area I'm working in is of my own choice, and I love doing the research, writing the papers is nothing but a drag, generally put off until the last minute (just like undergrad school!). Bleh. Good luck with your writing donsig! :)

And I'm glad you still like us despite the Diplo game... ;)

All right, I just started it. I'm working hard to get a place founded one day called Sankt Pauli  :D

After a harbor, it should get a building - rather a street that creates extreme happiness (and quite some culture too - and money)... :band:

For a moment there I thought you were talking about a Sankt Paulia. ;)

And I'm glad you still like us despite the Diplo game... ;)

Oh, I like you guys. If I were you though I'd stay away from the King of the Italians. :mischief:

So, let's see, so far we have Aigburth, Automated Teller, donsig, Niklas and Paul#42 in The very first ever CCC (Council COTM Challenge). Anyone else brave enough to take on Sid on the High Seas?

Good luck everyone!

For a moment there I thought you were talking about a Sankt Paulia. ;)
:gripe:

:dubious:

I already feared that you were someone who rather knows flowers than entertainment :splat:
How can one know stuff like that? :shake:

Hey I know Sankt Pauli, I went there a few years ago when I stayed in Harburg for a couple of weeks. Also, of course, there are some connections to where I currently live!

Talking about cotm43, the research costs on huge sid are just unbelievable, 4000 beakers for Theology :crazyeye:

To be honest I've never heard of Sankt Pauli before, but I know Reeperbahn, just never knew the name of the district. I've never been there though.

As for the flowers, they are my mother's favorite, she has them in almost every room. Unlike the pelagoniums (aka geraniums) they don't instantly die if you happen to leave your window open on a frost night (which a certain young boy was wont to do to her dismay). :mischief:

As for Sid research costs, I was rather shocked to see Ceremonial Burial take the max 50 turns on 100% research in the start, that has never happened to me before.
