Actually St Pauli also has a famous 2nd division soccer club. That's why Aigburth might know it :D, they are friends with Aigburth' Reds and try to do the same chants in their way smaller stadium called The League's House of Pleasure.

They once defeated Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and promoted Shirts with "Weltpokalsiegerbesieger" (World Cup Winner Defeater) written on.

Niklas, I'm glad you presented a good explanation for knowing such an exotic flower

Oh... that Polynesian game looks very interesting.

Will look into that this weekend. :D

I just submitted my quick start challenge for COTM 43. First QSC I've done in a long time. I should have looked at the log file recommendations first. I see Niklas has the only other submission so far. It has been a fun game so far.

I also see I've been placed with Smurkz in the SGOTM. Should be fun.

My QSC logfile was 502 lines (lots of blank lines though, but also wrapped lines are counted only once). I literally logged every action and every decision. It's been very long since I did that, but I find that I play better when I do. And for this game I figured I would need the extra introspection... :shifty:

Happy to have you on board with the Smurkz donsig! Too bad we didn't get HB in our team too, or we could have discussed that stuff here. Though the correlation Council-Smurkz isn't perfect anyway, since we have Poet Smurk CommandoBob along for the ride. Gotta love that guy's spoilers!

I just checked in on this thread after some time.

I HIGHLY recommend everyone play this COTM if they have the time. Remember, the COTM is geared towards Monarch/Emperor players - the way this is set up makes this much less scary than a normal SID game.

Getting early contacts and being able to trade early is a huge, huge advantage, and the amphibious units help a lot. I don't think you even need to attack the AI's and their stacks of 100's of archers.

I second AT. I just finished reading the first spoiler thread and will not play any more of my game until I post my spoiler. This COTM is really fun.

Busy time at the library. Finals are almost over and the students bring their books back just before going home. So I've been sorting many books these past few days. This one caught my eye and I thought of the CCC and the Council's new hope:

Six Frigates: the epic history of the founding of the US Navy

by Ian W. Toll

Not sure if the book is good but the title sure caught my eye! If six frigates were good enough to start the US Navy, it should be good enough to handle BABE.

'Only' six frigates will go a long way towards our mastery of the seas.

Anyone else who finds COTM43 extreeeeeeemly time consuming? I've probably actively played over 100 hours already and I don't have the end in sight. I know I'm a very meticulous and slow player, but this exceeds even the fabled GOTM 50 by a long shot! :faint:

Yes, it is taking along time even for someone like me who does not micromanage. Don't know how many hours I've played yet but I'm a long way from being done. It's a fun game and I'm not sure I'll even beat the AI. But that that makes it more exciting. :)

6 Frigates was the start of the US Navy? I had forgotten that (sad, since I live in Boston, where you can walk on one of those Frigates).

Apparently, the AI programming was based on the foes of the US, at least as it pertains to naval warfare!!

I'm out for a few days now, probably back on the 26th to pick up the PBEM turn. And diplo orders on thursday the 27th right?

Have a very merry X-mas all of you! :xmas: :salute:

Merry Christmas Niklas - (and all!)

I think the grudgematch turn is waiting for you if you get time befoe you go ;)

If not - no worries! :xmascheers:

Yes, diplomacy orders are due on the 27th (gmt 24:00).

Merry Christmas, everyone! :)

We had a very nice solstice (it passed while we were in a cab on the 59th street bridge on our way home from a Guitar Hero party at the New York Times :hatsoff:)

Merry Christmas to The Council!

Wanted to wish all of you the best. It’s great being on a team with such wonderful people.

Thought I’d share a picture of my daughter in her Christmas dress…

evaxmas3.jpg

She’s 9 months old now, and doing really well, all things considered.
(She has cardiomyopathy, for those that don’t know. Her heart hasn’t improved any, but she’s starting to gain weight better, and basically, we’re just thrilled she hasn’t gotten worse and is still with us!)

God bless all of you,
Merry Christmas!
:xmascheers:

Merry Christmas to all members of The Council and their relatives! :xmascheers:

Great pic of your little one, General!
Hope she spent a nice first christmas and will enjoy many, many more of them! :pat:

My little ladies bravely quoted their poems to Santa.
Our Santa was a little late and the older (almost 8 years) already stated she was losing interest... :mischief:
But the rest of the evening the living room was all flying gift wrappers and cheering little girls... :)

All the best,
Paul

Nice pic General! :salute: My little girl (step daughter) is on her way home from Japan (she is a Marine). Poor girl got stuck in an airport for a day and a half (Seattle?). She called last night to ask the best driving route from North Carolina to New York. Hopefully she and her husband will make it up here today. Another stepdaughter is working today but some others (and their little ones) might actually be around for Christmas dinner.

In the mean time I am trying to finish off COTM 43. :D

Merry Christmas everyone!

EDIT: Finished and submitted COTM 43! Do I still get a frigate named after me?

Just had another glance at the currently active users department:
Paul#42, Aigburth, Chamnix, General_W, Hasdrubal Barca, Niklas

As usual, five of six are Councillers.

I'm really proud to be member of the most active team of this epic fight. :salute:
