P666-01 Fix the Trash Game

ok I'll try,

maybe I will have time to do those 80 turns of game wednesday + thursday evening (big fiesta for friday evening : no civ)

good luck for your play.

the aims are : (for round 3 +3bis) : get stronger + expand war to the continent and try to take hold of it... :)

you're an optimist, aren't you ;)
as cam_h said, i only built 2 archers and a warrior

I have 80 turns to do it... 80 !! until 1000 A.D... just enough time to try it a :smoke: the play.. :)

as it is the first time I will have such an aggressive aim, it will be more likely a :smoke: game for the 4th round to salvage from the abyss :D.. (it would be my first stake of cats... never bothered to do one before, so this time I would go for it, furthermore, I never opened war without copper nor iron, and here I will be preparing/aiming for war without knowing (while playing) any other source of metal than in ennemy lands...etc)

or try it not so aggressive, more in my way, but I won't learn things...

do it for fun, and welcome on board :)

I'm pretty sure the need to explain your game is making really :smoke: moves more difficult ;)
That's IMHO why there are no trash games in this thread

You are definatly right about this!! REALLY makes you think why am I making this move?? I think if anyone took notes for a write up they would immediatly find where they are going wrong.

And welcome to the roster!

:D

so much support is great !!! :king:

I will not deceive you !!! (I hope) :crazyeye:

EDIT : oups : already played 3-4 turns and already made the mistake of going for construction (elephants) instead of going for metal casting ... I will have elephants but no forges to make them, and no 'anti-unhappy'..... will see how it turns out... maybe it will turn out to be ok.:mischief:

it is tiring to write a log, very useful to not make mistake, but turns are longer than normal play :old:. I understand now the week period for "only" 40turns... :D

Got up to 400ad in my shadow. Its interesting. Good luck chaps.

Calavente,

Another Frenchman? (You're a :king: not a :queen: I'm assuming!). I'll never be able to understand those turn logs.

Welcome aboard ... for the record, what's your normal game difficulty?

i concentrate on the game ;)
cam is the OP + he is the most respected here, our master, our leader, :worship:

o.f.f.s.! ;)

Seeing that my schedule is so constrained, I think that I'm the worst person to try and run this (thanks for your vote of confidence though mice :)).

Pigswill??? The most respected one? The master? The leader? Will you be our captain?

I actually don't think that this thread needs "running" really anyway provided we stick to the deadlines and so on, but I can see a looming problem with the proposal that we drop to turns of 20 rounds, which again doesn't leave a lot of scope to make a trash game.

I've updated the initial post and edited the roster.

I'll almost certainly play out my game by 'my' Friday evening (Europe's Friday lunch, America's Friday morning), which is ahead of the deadline by about a day.

Shucks, lets join in the run of modesty. Moi, the master? the leader? The most vulnerable to flattery? The crown prince stuck between the noble princes and imperial monarchs?
Do I have a recently renovated avatar? Cam H is the natural leader!!

i agree, cam_h, you're the boss :king:

However, i think i'll do the deadline things, to be sure we have a target every time.:scan:

About the 20 turns, i think that there is some kind of agreement there.
20 turns is long to play but not enough to trash a game.
OTH, 80 turns is too long for me. Not only is the playing long in late years, but i think there is not much room for u-turns after such a long period.
I propose we stick with 40 or 50 turns (50 turns bringing the next round to 1500 AD is cool, isn't it? It gets my vote at least).

About the current round, i played (rushed!) to 1000 AD, and did a nice trash game:blush:. I even have a save this time :mischief: . I'll post it on friday, to avoid too much "direction". I didn't do any turn log, so i'll do a write up with general directions and how it went.

edit cam_h, nice thing updating the initial post. could you put some links to VuDu's submission from 2360BC, then to mine from 875BC (then again to the next "selected submissionner") so any starting lurker could easily follow up ?

Anything's possible!

Very good suggestion - a bit on the run at the moment so I'll do so tomorrow.

1500AD sounds like a good future plan.

I'm looking forward to the saves.

don't you want to submit a game (rather than a shadow)?

I'm not saying your going to bring a trash game, but i like comparing my game to yours. You know what your doing, often more clearly than me, but tend to be a little more conservative (not too much gambits for you, right?). And it's very interesting to see if my risks pay or not, compared to a not so risky option. And i can tell you i did go for some risky stuff in the 875BC to 1000 AD round, and some of those gambits went wrong (more in a spoiler in a few days).

I think you can take my game and do what you wanted to do in yours with little difference (masonry isn't even started, just switch to alphabet ;) )

It would be nice for our noble/prince partners too, to see your game.

Cabert: My game was very similar to yours at 875bc in terms of general development so I could post my 1000ad for comparision. To be honest it would be a bit of a drag essentially replaying 80 turns.
(Besides which, apart from a few surprises its going ok at the moment; the big cats rule the jungle).

ok, I just lost a long post..
so I will be short

I'm a prince :king:
never played lower,
never tryed harder level.

long experience in prince,
not so good a player.
30 -40 games only
5 victory : space2, diplo1, score1, conquest1.
1 civ really going to loose before I quit it
all other were not continued later than early industrial due to boredom (neither loosing nor winning : I would have to wait for the score or open total wars) or too long a stop in play.

and for you, I will re-install civ in the english version so that the turn log (save the 4 1st turn) will be in english.. what am I not going to do to please you : loosing 20-30 min of potential gameplay :mischief:

about deadline, will you be able to post a save by friday night/early saturday morning? I'm anxious to see how you manage postwar time :scan:
