Paradox Interactive games

yeah I recently got Victoria: Revolutions, since it has the doomsday converter I'd want to do an AAR on it

however I sadly don't have the free time I used to, damn University level courses

I think we should start lobbying for a Paradox forum in Other Games again. 9 of the 45 threads on the front page are Paradox threads. (20%)

yeah but then we wouldn't get the same amount of attention for AAR's

in this case being ignored is a good idea

Paradox has made the sourcecode for the Europa engine available (that is, for EU1&2, Victoria, Crusader Kings and HoI1&2 + expansions). So those who know some programming and are interested should take a look here: http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=352059

Hopefully we will see some nice "patches" and expansions for the games in the near future! :)

I'm hoping that the source will be made public and not given out for money.

Edit: Never mind, it looks like you will actually have to develop something in order to get your hands on it.

^

Which is a good thing, as soons as we see any new mods/games made with the source code, you know it's a good mod/game.

[quote/]Waiting for Modern Times expansion for HoI...
It allready is there :)

Dont these guys make super complex games? I played EU III or two or whichever one just came out and didn't like it, but I liked the complexity, do they have anything like it just less boring?

Grand strategy isn't boring, you just are use to the fast paced games.

I played Galciv for a year, civ III for 2 years and civ IV for about a year, on top of that Im currently playing WiC, was playing CoH before that and Supreme commander before that, Morrowind before that and Im always playing oblvion. I disagree with the blanket assumption. I liked the game, but there just wasn't anything to do really, there wasn't a fun economic model like in Gal civ, and the warfare and pace were just drab. I would like a game thats complex, but not mind numbingly boring at the same time, I thought civ and Galciv were a great pace, they always had something to do, in EU I just found myself mindlessly sitting there a lot.

Those are either turn based or real time strategy. You are not the type of gamer who plays Grand Strategy. The point is to micromanage and build up so you can do things in the future. Getting there is 80% of the fun. ;)

No. stop, the elitist superiority tone thing is just annoying. I like games that are fun, irregardless of type.
In civ and gal civ and CoH and, well, every game I listed you build up to use things in the future, so apparently EU is in the category of EU, and no other game can occupy it. Fair enough, Im simply looking for game that has the level of complexity but one that you are actually actively involved in building, and not when where you just wait for turns, for something to be built, or completed or achieved.
