Actually both the original and the DAO map have quite a few inaccurate and totally awful areas At least they are awful for my taste...
You are probably right though, generally the DAO is still much better than the original
Anyway, for me the best map by far was the map for the Magna Mundi mod.
Those guys made an awesome job with the map too!

Well, yes, DAO has its problems (like in North Africa, most obviously), but its a lot better than the DW map. Plus, the DAO map is still being worked on, so yeah.

I currently use DAO-Lite, since its such a huge improvement on the map. I simply cannot go back now.

Agreed, and it has potential for sure
My point was that for me the Magna Mundi mod's map is still the best - even if it was made years ago

Also got Chronicles, got very upset by the fact that I cannot play with earlier versions, and the mods made for those - especially Magna Mundi
So I cheated...........
It's a shame, really. I'm a little blushed that I had to do this
But I feel I bought the whole game, why should I miss something important with some of the earlier contents of Choricles?

I think the DAO map comparison post is rather unfair by comparing neat, pretty modern borders that everyone's seen thousands of times with the 1399 Divine Wind map. That's not going to be a neutral choice; people will naturally prefer the modern borders.

Not saying that the DAO map isn't better, just that we should compare apples with apples.

Given that the Divine Wind 1399 map is not even accurate and looks like blotches, I'll rather take accurate modern borders over inaccurate 1399 borders any day of the week.

Sure Divine Wind's map is far from perfect but modern borders have little relevance in many cases to borders from 600 years ago...

Also would love to be able to see the DAO map, but some genius hosted it on imageshack which once again is failing to load properly and tries to give me pop ups instead of zooming in. It also looks dull as hell only showing modern countries.

I have rather enjoyed MEIOU's map, while I am sure it is not 100% accurate it is good enough for me.
