Paradox Interactive games

Using the Vicky 2 map style is a great idea.

thissssssssss. I love how the Vicky2 map looks, so this is definitely a boon.

HttT was the best expansion by far. You shouldn't wait for Divine Wind to come out and then for it to be put in a bundle with HttT or with HttT and EU3 Complete (which seems more likely.) You should totally get it right now. You will not regret it

Meh, I don't really play a whole lot of EU3 right now, which is why I didn't buy HttT. Divine Wind may give me the incentive, as it looks really, really cool!

HTTT Was great, and of course IN+HTTT> IN alone, but taking each of their contributions alone, IN was the real giant's leap and "most bestest expansion" to date.

Because I'm a killjoy:

Features:
Play as one of four major daimyo’s in Japan vying for influence over the Emperor and control over the Shogunate

Only four? When they have no problem modelling each little duchies of France? This is disgusting Eurocentrism.

Enhanced diplomacy with more options for alliances and peace negotiations

Uh. Yeah. What exactly does it mean?

Dozens of new culture-specific building types allowing greater control over the development of provinces

I'm going to bet Europe gets 10 of those and the effeminate Orientals get the other two.

More realistic development of trade

Yeah, what, changing some numbers in the game files?

Manage the internal factions within China to keep the Mandate of Heaven

This actually sounds good. Now can we get rid of that idiotic -50% tax modifier for Confucianism?

....

Wait... what... wait, that's it? You want me to pay $30 for that and a new map?

I think you're being a bit unfair with that last statement. HttT only had 5 features when it was announced and it turned out pretty good.

Paradox Interactive said:
* Brand new Casus Belli system, where wars have specific goals from start to finish.
* Monarchs now belong to dynasties, with new influence on the diplomatic model.
* Increased Holy Roman Empire and Papacy options for more powerful ruling
* New diplomatic options for Merchant Republics.
* Enhanced "Cultural Tradition" and recruitment of specific advisor types.

$30 (last time I checked the economy was pretty good, it'll probably be closer to $25) does seem a bit much to pay for what seems like DLC but they change up gameplay quite a bit compared to other games expansions where you pay $50 for more of the same.

Doubt it, because AFAIK the game isn't going to be extended to 1836 and will continue to have an end date of 1821. So there'll still be the fifteen missing years for unmodded games.

This makes me a sad panda. I hope you are wrong.

Including the fact that you can't conquer their provinces - the only way to get those provinces is to colonize them. Even if the horde is already in it. EG, it is now possible (in some circumstances) to colonize provinces that belong to another country.

A "No empty province" mod is practically a certainty at this point, unless Paradox messes on the modability of this feature.

So will horde provinces sort of work like provinces in the America's then? Where you can colonize it but the natives will rise up occasionally and damage your settlement unless wipe them out or successfully colonize it?

Yes, but they will also be inhabited by an actual horde, with its own armies and so forth to harass you.

I'm slightly frustrated by the fact that, in general, they aren't making the borders any prettier, just the coastlines (and adding in a crapton of provinces ofc), from the screenshots we've seen. To be fair, that's alpha, but still.

Which is rather ridiculously ahistorical, really.

You could always play a mod. Some of them has nice borders.

I'll probably mod the map myself if I'm not satisfied with what they serve up this time.

Better than the current version where those province are either inhabited by easily conquered "cities" of nomads which can be taken over by non-nomadic civs (as opposed to just the nomads up and movign their tent next province over and leaving you with a very empty province), or inhabited by villages that commit collective suicide the moment 1000 Europeans walk into the province.

Much better.
