Patch 319 won't install

Hi there. I'm new to Civ. Played some Civ 3 and enjoyed it and now I've downloaded the Civ IV Complete set from Amazon.

In BTS, it won't install the latest 3.19 patch. It will seem to install but then I get a popup message that says, "The patch has been successfully downloaded. Press OK to close the game and install the patch." I click okay, the game closes and nothing happens.

Here's the current version I seem to have:

Civ Version: 317
Save Version: 301
Build Version: 3.1.3.1

I'm running Windows 7 Pro on a Dell XPS 1645 laptop with an i7 processor, 6GB RAM, and a decent video card.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Are you downloading the patch from the in-game updater ?
If so, forget it, it's buggy; prefer downloading the patch from the download database of this website.

Also, you might be contending with the security on Windows 7. Vista had they same issue. By downloading the patch and running the patch using the "run as administrator option, it should do the trick. If not, there is a sticky thread over on the Tech forum that may have a resolution.

Thanks, guys. I actually called the 2K Games help line. It was surprising to find how quickly someone answered the phone. The English-sounding dude on the other end told me the only fix would be to get the patch directly from Amazon 'cause that's where I purchased the game. I was like, "Ok..." Didn't make a lot of sense to me. Amazon isn't equipped to hand out patches for all the digital software they sell. They're just a distributor.

Regardless, I pulled it off of filefront (or a site like it) and installed the patch that way. Everything working fine now.
