In the past when you click next turn, but you still have orders to issue, you get to issue those orders then you click next turn a second time to end the turn.

In my last game, the turn auto-ended after issuing those orders, skipping the need to click next turn again. Is this intended or a bug.. or not patch related and just my PC acting weird...?

I think I had this too. I think it might be intended. Certainly not a serious bug if it is one.

Well it was a problem with ordering, pre-patch you click end turn, it then does all the automated and queued moves and if a unit ended a queued move and still had movement points it would prompt you. However after you gave that unit an order you would have to click end turn again. Really annoying late game when you start getting fast units.

Is anyone else finding that it gets stuck on 'please wait' rather than switching to 'a unit needs orders', and clicking the button doesn't do anything? It took me ages to figure out what was going on.

If you have a save that reproduces the hung end-turn (unit waiting on orders), please post it here. Thanks!

I was irritated at first by this when Civ5 came out, but by now have gotten used to it, and actually like it.

I'm irritated by the new behaviour now. I mean, I have turned off "Auto end turns" in the options. So I expect that when all is said and done, I have to click "End turn" to REALLY end the turn (so I can check cities again etc). Now when I order for example a worker to build a farm, it just ends the turn WITHOUT giving me the chance to do anything anymore. This looks like a bug to me.

This is from the Korea scenario. It's at the end of the turn; for me, clicking 'end turn' goes to 'please wait' and I have to use the command to select the next unit and tell it to do something in order to progress.

NB there's something else wrong with this save: this is loaded from an autosave in my game last night, where I've made a couple of turns in order to demonstrate the 'please wait' problem, but note that in this save all my cities are at their food limit and I have 30 unhappiness. In the actual game my cities were nowhere near that large, and happiness never dropped to -10 or below. The turn before I'd just taken a city, and the act of saving and reloading in order to confirm the bug caused that one to immediately grow to the max size supported by the food available, just like all the rest.

I confirm this and I would like to have the possibility back to "check cities again" as you described it.

Dennis, if you're reading, is there any chance of getting the ctrl+A (move all units with existing orders) shortcut again?

Thanks

Meanwhile I do not think it's a bug any more:
The turn only ends (seemingly) "automatically" when you have clicked the "next turn" button before. Before the patch you had to click the button again after you told your remaining active units what to do.

Bonjour,

Following problem with the UI in the newest version: (see saved game)
If you hit on "Next Turn" the game says "please wait" but it is blocking in fact, because some unit is still waiting for orders.
You must guess that you have to :
- select a unit
- then select the next unit (with the > button)
to lookup for the unit that is waiting for orders and thus blocking the game!

I wasn't able to reproduce the effect chrin67 was describing with that gamesave.

When I hit end turn, it takes me to the warrior that has a movement point left and selects him, waiting for me to give an order. However the "blue action button" (what do we call that thing anyway?) just says "please wait" and pressing it does nothing.

Strangely, if you try to select any other unit it immediately takes you back to the warrior that it insists you must move. I did notice this once or twice today when I played through the Polynesia scenario.

Finally, when you do give the warrior a movement order or other order the turn ends automatically.

IMO there's something buggy here.

Okay so I couldn't figure out what to name it in a way that made sense.

So pre patch, I'd make my moves and click next turn. Then, if there were units that had movement points left after making an auto move or a worker that finished building something or a civillian unit that was threatened by an enemy unit, it would give me the opportunity to move these units.

After or during the time that I could move these units, I could move other units as well. So if a civillian unit was threatened, I could move a military unit in to protect it. Now, post patch, I can't move that military unit.

In my first game post patch, I have a worker building a quarry. A barb has just moved in to threaten the worker but I can't move my spearman out to protect the worker. Instead, I'm going to have to move my worker into my city and lose a turn in building the quarry.

Either this is a bug or somebody made a really stupid decision to change this.

And now I'm thinking it is a bug. I wanted to post a save and the thought occurred to me to see what the game would do if I loaded that save. It cleared the please wait and changed it to the "A Unit Needs Orders" button and allowed me to select the Spearman in the city.

To reproduce, end the turn. It will take you to the worker next to Thebes. Click on the spearman in thebes and it just immediately reselects the worker for you. Save the game and then load the save. You should now be able to select the spearman and move it out of the city.
