I really can not understand what the people whining in this thread are expecting from Firaxis. That they give us an exact date of release next time?

Maybe this will happen, but it will be 5 minutes before release because otherwise they could not be really sure about it and rather wait with an announcement in fear of the reactions by their fans.

Or, even more probable, they won't tell us ANYTHING about the patch until it is released. Great huh?

In that light the changelog we got from alexman seems like a gift, and in my opinion that's exactly what it is, but I'm sure thanks to the whiners, Firaxis will think twice before releasing any info before the actual release next time.

Telling us there are further delays in the release would be a start, giving a revised estimate would be good as well. If that estimate cannot be reached, again, informing of a delay and giving a new estimate would be nice.

Maybe the fans are just a little pissed off that Firaxis have given us a changelog and expected us to be pre-occupied with it until they release the patch whenever it happens.

Dude, let it rest. Rince has a good point. Responding with a repeat of rhetoric isn't accomplishing anything. Everyone has read the rhetoric the first 20 times.

If the patch isn't released by Friday, and no update from Firaxis or Take2, I suspect there will be a large number of people in this thread who will be, how should I put it, pissed off.

Ah, a new thought.

Perhaps. I don't usually weigh in on this kind of thing. My wife does this all the time.

On the one hand, contingency planning is a good idea. On the other, this isn't contingency planning... it's simply worring about something that may never happen.

One possible goal / outcome of this kind of thought is to publicly state the degree of outcry if some action (patch or post/update by Friday) does not take place. However, the best way to accomplish that IMO would be a new thread with a poll ("Will you be Really Pissed(tm) if Firaxis/Take2 does not either release the patch or update us by Friday 28 Sept?") with options Yes/No/Bananas.

I wouldn't care if the whining about the patch would take place in another thread in which case I would simply ignore it. But this thread was opened by alexman to release information about the upcoming patch. And it served to discuss the many changes until the whining started, which, in my opinion, completely spoils the good intent of the OP.

I remember the infamous Diablo II v1.10 patch who needed 2 years to complete ... so I can wait for 3.13, which will arrive soon

This thread is probably redundant now anyway, as some of the entries in the 3.13 change log may have been altered in response to the new issues that popped up through testing. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. As has always been the case.

The whiners should quit complaining. Whining about it isn't going to make a patch release any sooner. If Firaxis did release the patch when you wanted them to, I'm sure it would be all screwed up from not being tested enough, which would piss you off. You're only being impossible to please, can't you see that?
