I'm trying to make people use their heads a bit and think about what they are saying before they say it. I can guarantee you that more than 90% of the people doing all the whining and crying have NEVER worked in the Videogame industry, or ANY industry where resources and timelines impact the final product. Too many people are just the end-user who expects everything to be fine and go their way and wants monetary retribution or punishment to others if they don't get what they want. That drives me nuts, and it happens with more than just videogames. I hate seeing that type of behavior and attitude approved of anywhere, hence why it seems to hit that nerve for me.

I understand what you mean about complaining people, BUT when we buy a game, we don't expect it to be "unplayable" (at least decreasing the gameplay and experience) until some months later...
I voted yes to that it was worth the wait, but I was just so excited about all the new stuff and fixes. Now I realize it wasn't worth to wait so long for it :(

I note, for the record, that this Poll will close on November 12, 2007, at 10:30PM. which still leaves plenty of time to wait.

(P.S. Disclaimer: This post is an attempt at humor. I know full well that the expiration of the poll has nothing to do with when the patch will become available. It's a shame I am compelled to make this disclaimer. It just seems there are a lot of people getting themselves all worked up telling others to relax. Now that's ironic!)

Do you wait to play ANY GIVEN GAME ON THE MARKET until the last patch is out, then?

By those standards, "decreasing the gameplay and experience), there are even console games that will NEVER be playable because some are released with bugs.

You guys need to get back in touch with reality, seriously. I understand you are hyped about the patch, but man. The only time the balance issues currently in the game are really annoying is when you play marathon or something. Just suck it up and play a shorter game speed if it bothers you that much...or go have an eskimo pie or something and chill out.

Though most publishers are evil (:p), and what I meant was rubbish was if they held a ready patch back to get it onto digital distribution first/at the same time as it was otherwise available. Pure speculation of course.

Actually, I fear you might just be right. My apologies in advance to all those who use the CD version if the patch is delayed due to people like myself purchasing the digital version! Had I known it would take over a day to download, I would probably never have bothered in the first place! :D (Now who's the impatient one, eh?)

And I did suspect that your first post was tongue in cheek, much like my friend's comment about Mordor. How do these evildoers live with themselves? ;)

Sorry for the double post...

Don't kid yourself, you loved making that disclaimer. ;)

In the land of Sarcasm, you are at least Prince Regent... :p

Don't you have to go get your car repaired, your washing machine fixed or your dodgy phone lines straightened out? :pat:

You are right Lobsang1978 it's not ironic,it is sarcasm, thank you.
As far as the words frustration and desire,i don't see to whom you are refering. The reason you wanted to make me such a lesson is somehow strange,my tone has to do with the fact that every time we read and right the same stuf,(why does the patch...etc)for a long time now,so if i was realy frustraited i wouldn't have 6 games labelled Civ...and expansions, neither i would still read the forums.By the way i do use a dictionary...can you express yourself in Greek, because unfortunately my English are't so great(and that is true).
Still i have to excuse myself at Horace because my response to him has a wrong tone.

No I have simply extended my original analogy and decided that people are also bugged and defective on the whole, and thus await regular personality patches with the same anticipation as the 3.13 patch... :badcomp:

Any word on you making it out of beta testing? Or is that condescending loop bug still unresolved? :p

*And I fully include myself within my theory of people being defective. That's why these forums are so interesting... so many different viewpoints!*

Kokoras: My apologies, my Greek is totally useless despite a slight brush with it at university... and we do have Socrates to thank for a form of irony known as Socratic Irony, so I guess it is a bit rich me correcting a Greek on such matters! My apologies :)

Are Firaxis at any rate going to make Capitulation more useful? (Currently, it only happens when the AI has 1 city left with crappy units, economy, techs AND you'll get sinister -1 relations with other AI if you have vassals >.<)

On larger maps this isn't an issue, and often can depend on who you are trouncing. For example, Gandhi is notorious for capitulating with several large decent cities left.

Sad as it is, but I for example do. Burned many times with frustration, I dont touch a game until at least 6 months after original release, but I think I will change to 12 months, even 6 is not enough these days anymore. It just does not make any sense to buy software products when they just some out.

In my current game on a (modded) super-huge map, Cyrus has just capitulated to Alexander (and his 4 vassals) while still having seven cities and the third largest army on the planet. Now I'll have to fight Alex plus *five* vassals. ;)

For some reason i can't bring myself to play 3.02 anymore, knowing a new patch is comming out. Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon? I want this patch so bad... can't wait...
Tell me about it. I've got one game that's stuck in an infinite loop. Another that's being crippled by colony maintenence (4-5 cities at 100+ GP in maintenence puts a damper on things). Do I really want to start another game only to have it grind to a halt, knowing that these issues will be fixed in an upcoming patch?

I have been doing the same now for a couple of years (Since Rome Total War), although I bought BTS digitally a bit sooner than I normally would have out of curiosity really. In theory if everyone was to resist buying a game at release and wait, it should force publishers to allow a bit more resource allocation to Quality Assurance and testing.

However, in reality it would probably just make the publishers think a game has no interest from consumers and thus release less investment for patches and expansions. Catch 22. :crazyeye:
