My rough translation:
CCTV:

Two Webmasters of 3dmgames website, a Shanghai-based website dedicated to translation of video games, including some pornographic game titles, are arrested for distribution of pornographic materials.

Their profit in the past 8 years is 60,000 RMB, or 8,000 USD.
---
Side information:
The team have translated various games, including GTA series and many non-porno games.
The police says, they may be up to more than 10 years if convicted.
---
My 2 cents: it's pretty hypocritical when cyberpiracy goes like wild fire in China, when most of teens and early 20ers have already view pornography illegally. Punishing a web site which only translate porno instead of making them... gross.

Many porno users on some website also pointed out the possibility of foul play by other gaming/translator websites, since the 3dmgames have a good techteam for hacking/translating various titles from US, EU and Japan, ahead of other hacking/tranlsating teams (not verified).

It's very important to notice that many large websites and SMS services in China turn a blind eye to borderline pornographic contents, in order to produce better page views and more subscribers.

Pornography is illegal even for adults in China.

Edit: it's quite lucky for me since I don't use porno and don't rely on crappy translators.

When you say porno games do you mean the Japanese games? They aren't readily availible in the US. GTA is far from pornographic.

As much as I love porn and gaming the two just don't jive for me.

Its pretty sad that the gov. is cracking down on a translation site like that. Its a deffinate step back in its slow road to freedoms. With counterfiting as bad as it is in China you'd think they'd focus on that.

So Japanese porno aren't readily in US, but you can find them in small alley ways in any Chinese town or city, isn't it ironic?

And the site is making profit by selling porno related materials via Internet without checking the buyers' age, quite illegal even by western standard.

Porn Movies and Games @ Japan is their fun
but lets just say in general...porn just kicks ass xD

Are you even allowed to say that in mainland China? Free speech is not one of the things China is known for.

The internet is full of Japanese porn, therefore, it is very available in the U.S.

So porn is illegal in China? Whats with all the .cn porn sites I find from time to time during my...ummmm...research.

Though I've always heard its a capital offense to produce porn in China.

"Translation"? Is there any reading involved in porn anymore...? :mischief:

You'd think that since viewing porn doesn't result in babies, they'd be handing out porn like it was Mao's Little Red Book.

When you see a Capitalist country supporting pornography, send me a PM.
