Person Retro-NES: Today and Tomorrow

Nooorway!

Why do we have a ten character minimum?
Personally I think it's because whoever is responsible wants us to suffer!

February 22, 2006- 12:07 AM

Jack Layton, leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada looked up at the giant projection screen in the Toronto Skydome. The election results were almost complete.

On the screen were the current standings:
Liberal- 28%
Conservative- 33%
NDP- 34%
Green- 5%

It was the tightest 3- way race high level Canadian politics had ever seen. After the Liberal collapse to massive scandals, the path was laid bare two electoral districts remained inconclusive. At that moment, a voice echoed through the stadium.
"Vancouver Center, 52 percent Conservative, 24 percent NDP, 22 percent Liberal, 2 percent Green."
Cheers burst from behind Steven Harper, leader of the right-wing Conservatives. He waved around in thanks to his supporters. Jack Layton looked up. The Conservatives had taken a percent from his party. Layton looked up to see what the final riding was as the voice started again.
"Kitimat-Stikine."
"The wild card." thought Layton, "The people who decide a NATION."
"An NDP victory, with 76% support."
The left-wing supporters of the NDP went wild. Cheers, screams, and whistles assaulted everyone's eardrums while balloons and ribbons fell from the rafters. The new Prime Minister stood up to the standing applause and walked to the podium in the center of the stadium to meet his rivals.
He first shook hands with the former liberal Prime Minister Paul Marten. Next was the new opposition leader Steven Harper, who shook strongly but had a fain bitter look in his eyes. Jim Harris, leader of the Green Party, shook hands and smiled.
"Glad we've finally got a leader from the Left. You can count on our full support."
Jack Layton stepped up onto the podium and began his speech.
"I'd like to congratulate my rivals for a well-done campaign. But more important is what Canadians have done for their nation in voting NDP. My party WILL NOT back down on our promises of improved access to necessary medicine. My party WILL NOT back down in our promise for the increased funding of schools. We will make post-secondary education something anyone can get, no matter how poorly off they are! We will build homes and provide jobs for the poor! We will relight the fading beacon of Canadian life quality and peacekeeping to what it was decades ago. We will be the strong Canada that many of us have always dreamed of being! Thank you!"
The crowd went wild. Layton grinned and stepped down. He and his party had a lot of work to do.

Our king is dead; a new king, King Stephan V, has risen to power. He promises to increase Sweden's industry and promotes wealth among the people. He also keeps Sweden's military strength at the following levels:

Infantry: 400,000 men
Tanks: 300
Ships: 15 Destroyers, 9 Cruisers, 4 Battleships
Planes: 100 fighters

He also sends a message to his neighbors, Norway and Denmark, asking that trade grow between our nations. Hopefully this proposition will be accepted.

Raid carried out by New Zealand Special Forces

Under a tip by the American CIA New Zealand Security forces found 4 men. They all resisted and it turned into a gun fight. But the superior training, numbers and weapons of the New Zealand Forces quickly subdued them. It ended when 2 of the men were shot and killed. The other 2 are in serious condition.

After searching the house they found many pounds of explosives, a large amount of weapons, and plans to bomb the Abel Janszoon Tasman International Airport. The plans detailed how they would explode 2 devices in terminals, 1 in a security checkpoint and another aboard a plane. It is still unknown what terrorist cell sponsored the suicide bombers.

Already security in the airports have rises dramatically, they are setting up a number of layers of security checkpoints along with tighter baggage regulation and searching of every bag.

The statment was placed on Chancellor Merkel's desk. It stunk of controversy. Taking a deep breath, the first woman Chancellor began reading the fourteen page report. There had been an incident in New Zealand. A train explosion. It echoed of the horrors of the Iberian Peninsula. Merkel would have liked to call it unbelievable, or a huge surprise, but the fact was, she was numb. Numb from the past events that have rocked the world and exploded in the twenty first century.

The Americans had stood up to these acts of horror. Merkel respected the courage, but understood that nothing could be done against these people. They are a few grains of sand in a mile-long beach. It is a lost cause searching for these people. Osama was still on the loose. Many of his top advisors were still either in Afghanistan or Pakistan, or somewhere else in the Middle East.

But she had to try. Germany was not going to sit idle as the free peoples of the world - as the civilized people - are underattack by the uncivilized, third world maniacs. She would stand up for Germany, for Europe, and for the free world. And the way to do this is through the Union.

To Prime Minister Helen Clark of New Zealand
From German Chancellor Angela Merkel

The blatant acts of horror upon your people are disturbing and disgusting. Germany offers her sympathy, and hopes that your people will quickly heal this wound and take steps to make sure this never happens again, neither there nor anywhere else in the world.

To PM Helen Clark of New Zealand
From PM Jack Layton of Canada

Canada is with you in your time of struggle. We are sending the equivalent of half a billion dollars American to help you recuperate. We will also send part of our peacekeeping forces to help hunt down these terrorists, if you accept.

From Norway to Sweden

We already have rampant trade across our fully open borders. Our consumers are spending Norwegian currency on Swedish groceries, thereby seriously undermining our agriculture.

Why does Sweden need to host such a large army? Certainly a standing army compromising 5% of your population will be a great toll on your economy. We're a peaceful regional community and you should spend more money on welfare and follow in the example of a wealthy, successful nation like Norway.

To New Zealand from Norway

You are such a sweet nation. We will send you Norwegian 'Geiteost' and 'Telemarkski' to comfort you.

Starting to Unfold

“I was with my child, Kate, on a fairly sunny morning when we decided to go on a trip to Napiet via train for a play. We had an uneventful trip until suddenly I heard a large explosion… Suddenly… Suddenly the front part of the train exploded and a few of the train cars were teetering off the side of the bridge… Me and my Kate joined the crowd running of the train. Until eventually 3 helicopters transported the 200 survivors to safety.” Martha McLusky.

Preliminary reports detect that the a large amount of explosives, probably the efficient C-4, detonated on the rain, destroying it and a piece of bridge below it. This through the train off of the tracks.

Currently 3 terrorist groups have taken responsibility, although it is uncertain which one did it. It is currently believed that a group of Islamic Fundamentalists, originating in Indonesia, carried at least most of the attacks.

Security Forces in New Zealand are doing almost door to door searches after an attempted attack on the parliament building in Wellington. The driver of the explosive filled van was taken out before she could react the building.

Person, I hope you don't mind that Norway will be slightly sarcastic and in a perpetual state of miffness because I once used to play New Zealand... with disastrous consequences!
