After the many discussions of Steam-related DRM, I have decided to make a poll as a petition to Firaxis to increase the DRM in Civilization 5 to change this:

Amend the Forced-Internet to Install (poll choice #2)
- into -
Non-invasive required internet to install, play, and uninstall that is user friendly (poll choice #1)

--------
Information:
Petition is to continue using Steam as the excellent platform it is, but the new method (choice #1) can bring many new features and protections not currently available in the old way they are currently providing.

The reason is simple, we as a whole need to help Firaxis and 2K's abilities to protect themselves from the evil 2nd hand market and from paranoid pirates.
Also, on a side note, many of the users that regularly attack and bury members here (that have any issue with Steam) have stated that they are 100% pro Internet requirements... therefore this petition should get some Yes votes. I hope everyone else follows their lead.

This is the wave of the future, so you should embrace it now; and fight for it! Sign the Petition to expand consumers rights!

Moderator Action: This threads purpose is to Troll the other forums, so I am closing it and giving you an infraction

Oh? Well, I'm 1000% promille against Steam or internet requirements.

This thread will only attract hate. Whats wrong with people in the Civ5 forums? Normally people on Civfanatcis are a peacefull(ish) bunch but the new game they all want is making them act mental. Sigh.

Edit. Mental, not metal!!!1

The OP is clearly being sarcastic. Bad form, IMO. At this point Steam is really just a way for people to argue [pointlessly], on either side. It won't be removed - 2K will not go without DRM.

Some other users have convinced me for the time being that internet DRM is good. Having defended their views on Forced Internet to install, it only makes sense that Forced Internet to play, and Forced Internet to Uninstall the game (yes, Uninstall the game) should be put in as well.

I personally don't like internet required, but if it is done to protect the companies as the argument has been made, there is no real difference from requiring to install compared to requiring it to uninstall.

Only difference is in the opinion of how far is too far with DRM. If requiring it for uninstall is going too far, than requiring it to install is at the exact same level.

Right now, the poll is fairly close on both sides.

Since this type of DRM won't be done away with by Firaxis and 2K, this poll is asking if you prefer the intrusive model of required internet to install... or if they should go with a method that better protects them from the 2nd hand market and pirates by requiring internet in all aspects of the game (installation, patches, DLC, playing, and uninstalling).

If you are for required internet to install, then requiring it for everything else is nothing you should be against, especially since it helps to protect our beloved Civ 5 game!
