This citizen group is dedicated to the ideal that war is never ok.... that an offensive war is unthinkable. We should focus on culture and peaceful building and trading. Let the world marvel at our culture and great cities, not at our swords! All people have the right to life, even the ones not born in our great empire!

The only military action taken should be defensive in nature! If we are attacked we should only defend until a peace agreement can be reached. This group is intended to be a group of reason, to finding a diplomatic solution to problems.

If you share these ideals, please join me in insuring that Phoenatica doesnt embark on an offensive campaign of tyranny!

Great and noble, yet one thing you should note, if it were not for the wars of the past, we could never of neared our present culture, science, or economy. We'd be behind, and war has brought us to no longer need to fight, for what we have is grand, yet we might out of greed, and this might get to quixotic and maybe even a bit Luddistic.

As a knight of the War Church I do not think it appropriate to join this group but I do want to offer my support. While the ancient wars made Phoenatica powerful we have never declared or instigated a war in the past I and pray we will not in the future. Should we ever be attacked again it is also my hope that retribution will be just!

It is good to know that the pacifist sentiment is alive and well in Phoenatica. We will do well to remember this.

One thing I must point out. Offense is sometimes the best defence. I'm not saying if another civ attacks us we must maintain war till we get alot of land or their wonders.

My reasoning is when a civ attacks us 5 turns of war in offensive campaigns is better than 20 turns of war in a pure defence of our nation. So, offensive campaigns can shorten the time we're at war and lessen the negative effects of it, by convincing them to seek an acceptable peace.

However, I'm glad that a pacifist group is being established. I look forward to hearing your opinions to my policies, esp. IF and when we are at war, hopefully we won't be again, but the Aztecs were recently stupid enough to declare war on us for no reason, so it could happen again.

I see your reasoning Falcon, and if the military leaders feel that a LIMITED offensive campaign would serve the ultimate goal of saving lives and shortening the overall length of the war, I believe I could understand that. However that, in my opinion, should be a worst case scenario.

War is to be avoided at all costs.

While it is true that the military got us to the position we are in now, we are in a position now where we dont need to "conquer" anymore. We are large enough to achieve our goals through peaceful channels now. We should focus on trade and culture. I do not however, think we should neglect the military. I am well aware that more than likely the day will come when someone will force us into military action, and we definitely need to be prepared. I just think that under no circumstances should we mount an offensive to say, take a resource from another civilization that rightfully belongs to them. If we want it, trade for it. My parents taught me not to steal.

BTW, I'll join this group. War is based on the single worst flaw of the human: the tendacy toward violence. In fact, it is again my belief that civilization only begins when control can be partily enacted over some basic human instincts, one of those violence.
In short, war is the complete opposite to civilization iteself.
