Orders are due before Friday October 14th.

The rules can be found in the pre-thread of you want all of the details. If you have further questions then please send me a PM.

Update 1
Update 2
Update 3
Update 4
Update 5
Update 6

Spoiler :
Major George Black nodded, “Fire when ready.”

The satellite readout had seemed reliable, a geosynchronous orbit shouldn’t be hard to target. Not that anything was simple anymore. Hitting a ship in orbit for instance, to hit a target on earth with a long range ballistic missile is to input the latitude and the longitude. But firing rockets in three dimensions, that was taking a much bigger toll. Antiaircraft weapons sought heat or scanned the infrared spectrum to track their prey, but the Rafiki had jammed radar and the infrared spectrum, and ICBM’s were never intended as antiaircraft, let alone anti-spacecraft weapons.

In fact it had been Major Black who held fire when those last orders came out of NORAD, he had started working on the mathematical problems that firing into space with an ICBM posed, trying to salvage what’s left of the satellites or at least fire when they were out of his way, he imagines that the rest of the silos have been fired, at least, it seems like its all finally over.

It seems like their plan worked, in concert with dozens of other plans all over this proud planet. The satellite that his base is uplinking to is only showing one more ship, floating in geosynchronous orbit, an ea sy shot. And most of the other satellites are already gone now anyway. Major Black hadn’t talked to anyone outside this base in 2 months.

Silo one rumbles, then two, four more massive rockets fire off into the sky.

“We are go, sir, the missiles have been launched.”

Now to see is that satellite is still reliable, if any of them are.

“We have a premature explosion, but it’s in the jet stream so it won’t settle here.”

“Don’t worry about it then, they have countermeasures?” Major Black asks.

“It appears they are firing at the missiles.”

“Good thing we sent six.”

“Another two are down.”

“Goddamn Rafiki bastards.”

“We have a ht, the satellite is showing major damage to the craft.”

Black smiles.

“Make that two hits, the ship seems to be going down, sir.”

The command room explodes into applause as the war is finally won, as the invaders are finally repelled. Earth stands strong.

Suddenly the satellite camera flickers to fuzz.

“What’s going on up there?”

“I can’t reach it, I think we shot it down sir.”

“Goddamnit,” Major Black says, “That makes this next part that much harder.”

“What part sir?”

“Picking up the pieces.”

If you are interested in the mechanics of faction creation then please refer to the pre-thread, most of the rules are also listed in that thread. This is put here to make clear how to interpret the important parts of your statistics.

Name: (Leader Name) / (Faction Name)
Species: (Your Species)
Role/Organizational Structure: (Your Role or Organizational Structure)
Population: (Your Population)
Economy: (There are two numbers here, the first number is your spendable economy/ The second number refers to your total economy, your Gross Product before upkeep or corruption)
Corruption: (Your corruption is listed separately so that you and I can keep track of it)
Reputation: (Your Reputation)
Fuel: (Your amount of Fuel)
Technologies: (Your technology includes both what you have already researched and also what you are researching now, the cost and amount invested into it will also be listed here)
Troops/Encampments: (Listed in this order: TOTAL Troops / Armaments / Equipment with Encampments on the following lines) Armaments that you have not done the necessary research for will be striked out.
Individual Encampments will be listed individually.
-They will show which buildings are built where.
-And which troops are deployed where.

Sending Orders:

These are simply some of the essential rules that you will need to know to send orders.
Spoiler :

You can send out troops to scavenge, spend your economic points, and make any policy decisions you deem necessary in your orders. You may PM them to me or post them on the thread depending on how secure you need them to be.

You can scavenge with soldiers or with militia; you cannot scavenge with your civilian population.

Civilians may use any utility items, like computers, ET Uplinks or automobiles. 1 Unit of automobiles will move 300 civilians. Civilians can do remote scouting using computers or ET Uplinks.

You will never need to equip your soldiers with utility items, if there is a bonus for those items or a special use for them then they will be able to use it without worrying about having them all in hand.

To do research and development on a technology, you must first procure a sample.

You will have to equip your soldiers with weapons, but you can change the individual troops equipment every turn if you find better weapons. If you do not equip your soldiers they will use the least effective weapons available.

Please read the Exploration section in the pre-thread for further notes on scavenge, especially regarding ground travel and fuel.

Your reputation will rise or fall based on your stories, but also your course of action in your orders. I encourage you to follow bold dreams.

Upgrading your Economy costs 3 Economic Points. 2 for factions headquartered in South America. 4 for factions headquartered in the Middle East.

The current update schedule is an update this Saturday and then every other, nonconsecutive Saturday afterwards. I will be writing these updates as I get orders, the earlier I get them the earlier I can start working on it.

In the event that you do not send orders you will not be able to scavenge for that turn, obviously, but your economy will be banked.

Each Update covers 2 Months of Earth Astrological time.

In the event that you don’t send orders for three turns I’ll NPC your faction. That means I haven’t heard from you in like, six weeks.

The Neter and the Dolphins

The two main NPC factions are the Neter and the Dolphins, although NPC is a strong word to describe these groups since they primarily relate to the religious and genetic ties of a various number of smaller groups and neither group possesses a coherent or unified political structure. There are various other random NPCs who hold only the slightest, if any, allegiance either way, but most of the wonders are controlled directly by either dolphins or Neter. An overview of their philosophies can be found here.

Dolphins are primitivists who believe that the use of technology fosters dependence and character weakness. They often need the help of people who possess working technology so that they do not have to use it themselves. They are also reluctant to fight, since they are dolphins and aren't good fighters. Conquest of Dolphin held Wonders is more or less painless. Their goal is to summon Circle Missionaries to the planet. They believe in reincarnation and personal improvement.

Neter are a fanatical religious cult who left the horde when they recognized that Earth is an ancient Holy site for their people. They have humanoid bodies, with the heads of falcons. Earth was set up by their ancestors as a secret fortified compound in case of trouble and they are working to reactivate their local defenses in the event of the Rafiki, or any large group of Circle worshipers, coming back to Earth. They believe in a monotheistic deity who they claim is worshiped by the Abramaic faiths as well.

Other Races

The Lilin are a highly modified genetic superspecies fused together from a collection of races. Limited to the Amazon.

Succubi are humanoids who produce influential pheromones, typically serve as intelligence officers in the Rafiki Horde.

Nitros are tall, birdlike, shock troopers genetically designed by the Rafiki as land forces.

Nalese are feline fighter pilots.

Tourliski are buglike fighter pilots.

Leelah are cyclops ground troops.

Rafiki are the simian former masters of the Horde.

Ukabu Ika are feral floating squids.

Wonders: The following Wonders have yet to be claimed.

Machu Picchu (Neter)

Machu Picchu produces a plasma weapon every turn.

Atlantis (Dolphin/Circle)

Atlantis accumulates either a Naval Craft or an ET Large Craft every turn.

Re-Education Base Galtok (Neutral)

It had only been a matter of weeks, is what he keeps telling himself, only a matter of weeks. Eleven weeks ago his life had been perfectly normal and unassuming. He remembers something about a family, green eyes, blonde hair, there are other things he remembers. Working in a nice office, selling things, making things, telling people how to do the damn work on the assembly line or haggling with retailers about how many of his products needed to be shelved and where.

It all seems so petty now, hell, he can’t even remember what it was he sold. He was the king of something. Tires, maybe, or fluffy pillows, Televisions? For all he knows it could have been bootlegged DVD’s or condoms. But life in Berlin had been simple for him. He hadn’t even ever considered the protein value of rats, he had never thought about the practical applications of a horse, the amount of shelter from the rain that the still standing doorway of a now ruined building can provide while one sleeps on the streets.

Some of the suburbs had been nice. Very nice in fact, almost untouched. The occasional demolished home stood testament to the war, but water still runs in some of those houses, people still pay their power bills. Hackers had fled to the suburbs, the ones who weren’t already there at least. Now they loomed in people’s minds larger than their numbers would suggest, wild deviants, he saw the graffiti back there, “Don’t let them bring back the Status Quo!”

Status Quo? What used to be the status quo is not the status quo. There is no going back. But these people, truthers, birthers, communists, wild frothing conspiracy loons, all of them are sure that the forces of law and order are closing in again somehow, and they’re flailing back wildly.

Status Quo? He has learned to speak Rafiki! There’s no unlearning Rafiki. He had spent three weeks in a prison camp where the Rafiki attempted to assimilate him and brainwash him with mind control rays. Tell me how you go back from that! But then one day the bombs went off. Someone put bombs somewhere. He doesn’t remember who. Something about liberation, the people who charged in to clear out the camp had used that word a lot.

But the nightmares came and went and he wonders if he’s ever really going to be away from that camp. People talk about things getting into their heads…

Tinfoil helps, now he keeps the tinfoil on. Wrapped tight around his head. Keeps the bad thoughts out. The rays, the rays get deflected. That’s when he knows it’s only him and us in there. Plenty of voices, as long as they speak in English, that’s ok. It’s a good compromise. But as soon as they slip back into Rafiki with the high clicking and low moaning, that’s when he knows the helmet needs to be tighter, there must be a break in the foil. Especially when he’s talking to one of those devious Rafiki defectors.

They still run around, all confused as hell and with a chip on their shoulder. He curses at them in their own language and shouts and runs around them and they run away. Quite an intimidating figure, a truly dangerous man. He could have the horse stomp the bastard if he puts up a fight. Damn Rafiki, they can all burn in hell. Space hell. Or somewhere.

Asking a horse to stomp the life out of a sentient being, that’s another thought that probably wouldn’t have occurred to him eleven weeks ago.

For now he only asks the horse to trod forwards.

Anyways, you may now post.

Caen is east of where you have it, but it doesn't matter too much.

Third French Empire, the only actual nation, is here

Caen- Oasis in Hell

"Guillaume, everything seems to be in order. The militia is ready, guns are loaded, food is secure. But I know something is bothering you". Yvette Pettigrew, one of the Emperor's trusted advisors, was checking up on him. "Look outside of Caen, mademoiselle, and you can see", said Emperor Guillaume.

"This city used to contain over a hundred thousand souls. Now it barely holds a hundred. It is a corpse, a have-been. But at least we have survived here. We have no contact in the outside world. For all we know, they are all dead. Paris, Marseilles, Lyon, they all have nothing. They were the largest three cities before the damn war, and no wandering soul has any news about them!

But yet we're helpless to try to reach out. We have no fuel, no telecommunications, nothing. We're stranded to one city. What happened to France? What happened to the world? We won't know for months. There could be a small human holdout not 50km away, that was attacked by rapist bandits, or worse, aliens, that we could had saved if only we knew about it!

I'm not sure if we should consider ourselves lucky for being in this city, or a curse knowing that our countrymen are dying, and we could actually do something..."

Yvette started at the Emperor with shock, speechless at what she heard. After a half-minute of awkward silence, Yvette said, "You're worrying too much. You should be concerned what we have, not what's out there. What you have is a bunch of people who respect your heritage from when we were in our glory days, and wish for you to lead us back into our glory". Yvette then quietly left the room, giving Guillaume his time to think. After a while, he also left, deciding to go outside into the city. "If the world outside is hell, then I rule the only Oasis we know of, She's right."

The Betrayal of the Scafiri

The Supercarrier Scafiri ripped its way through low orbit, its engines howling out in a high, mechanical whine, rattling its way throughout the vessel.

Tsierik-Lufor Khaz-Dio cracked his left head against a bulkhead as the g-forces of the turning ship threw his hovering body off course. Quickly regaining control, the Tourliski flicked his through the end of the hallway and into the open space the viewing bridge. A large-headed Rafiki, notable for the varied ensemble of armbands informing others of his rank, stared at his controls with a grimace. Tsierik came to a halt, perching beside the grimacing simian.

"Marshal." the Tourliski saluted.

"Wing Commander."

"What was that impact? I've got my boys working on their vessels in the hangar bay, right now, and the last thing they need now is-"

"Quiet."

Tsierik nearly lifted himself off of his perch- he usually knew exactly how far he could push Marshal Trefiki- something had him on edge.

"Marshal?"

The Rafiki's face frowned, as he lifted a slender-fingered hand to his temple, listening to his audio feed, giving a dismissive gesture with the other.

"What?!" the Marshal exclaimed, eyes widening.

"Uh... Marshal Trefiki?"

The Rafiki ripped the headset out of his ear and stared at Tsierik with frightening intensity.

"Wing Commander, get your pilots into their vessels and get a defensive screen set up around this ves-"

A reverbrating crash vibrated through the ship. Lights flashed for a moment, before returning, damage alarms sounding.

Immediately calm in a crisis situation, Wing Commander Tsierik-Lufor Khaz-Dio opened up his communicator.

"Omicron Wing. Deploy in defensive posture around the Scafiri, immediately." Cutting out the communication, he turned back to the Marshal, "What is happening?"

"Nalese."

The Tourliski's eyes flashed at the mention of his feline rivals- upstarts who'd displaced his own kind from their preeminent position in the fleet. It should be no surprise that the hot-headed fools would be behind some sort of emergency.

"More of their docking 'accidents'?"

The Rafiki was already inputting a huge amount of information into his console with his dextrous fingers.

"No. Across the whole fleet this time. This is a coordinated action."

Tsierik's collected levelheadedness was immediately t-boned by dumbfounded shock. He mouthed several words of confusion, failing to vocalize any of them.

The shocked silence came to a rapid end, as a new alarm began to sound- one that few had ever had the misfortune of hearing during their time serving in the Conglomerate Fleet.

Incoming fighters.

Shifting back into his 'zone', the Wing Commander reopened communications to his launching fighters.

"Omicron Wing, prepare for contact with Nalese Fighter-Craft. They have gone rogue. Repeat. Nalese Fighter-Craft have gone rogue."

Just instants after the transmission's conclusion, the ship gave out a terrible groan, the sound of hundreds of plasma bolts impacting the hull.

"Bring up the tactical!"

A holographic image of the Supercarrier Scafiri's immediate surroundings appeared. A confusing blur of friendly-coloured craft buzzed around the ship in strafing patterns. After a moment's adjustment, the vast majority of fighter craft shifted from a reassuring tone of green to a threatening purple. A scattering of green, Tourliski-piloted craft buzzed their way through the battle, engaging their Nalese traitor bretheren. Many of the green craft were being destroyed just as they emerged from the belly of their carrier, immediately picked off by the huge numbers of enemies. A death ray tore its way out of a turret on the Scafiri, strafing its way at a painfully slow speed through the heart of the Nalese swarm, taking out a handful of unlucky fighters. The green dots were darkening out of existence at a horrifying rate, each one symbolizing the defeat and, most likely, death of one of his pupils. Tsierik's decision was made immediately.

"Omicron Wing, cease deployment immediately."

Marshal Trefiki spun about and seized Tsierik by his sensitive tails.

"Belay that order now! We need the fighter screen up immediately, or-"

"They will all die if I do so."

"They'll all die if this ship goes down. Are you denying the orders of your superior, pinhead?"

Tsierik frowned at the slur, frustration building.

"If your order is our death with no tactical gain, then yes."

The Tourliski Wing Commander gazed at the projection, watching the numbers of fighters dwindle from hundreds, to dozens, to handfuls in the few brief seconds since the battle's opening.

"You..." the Rafiki raged, "Filthy little traitor, you're no better! You are stripped-"

A reverbrating, deep explosion rattled the ship, and power flickered out. Tsierik was immediately on the situation. The explosions had come from the rear of the ship- either in propulsion or generation. Classic Nalese tactics- cripple the prey by destroying auxiliary systems first, leaving the target helpless. Tourliski preferences had always leaned towards the single, deadly strike against the center of control, rather than the slow, taunting hunt of the Nalese.

Thus, if the engines were under attack, life support would likely be next. Escaping from his infuriated commander in the darkness, Tsierik swooped in towards the wall, seizing one of the breathing apparatuses that had been deployed at the beginning of the alarm.

"All hands, equip your personal breathing devices now!"

Emergency power flickered on. Marshal Trefiki's body lay still, knocked unconscious by some sort of violent impact during the blast. That suited Tsierik just fine, he could deal with charges of insubordination to his overlords later after saving the vessel with its crew intact.

"Helmsman, engine status!"

The Tourliski at the ship's central control console shook off the surprise at his new commanding officer in a moment, then replied.

"Negative sir. They're entirely offline."

"Any sort of control?"

The helmsman winced. Tsierik understood.

A third violent explosion shook the Scafiri, as gouts of flame blasted out of air vents towards the rear of the bridge. Two new alarms joined the cacophony- one for air quality, the other for failing hull integrity.

"Where is our fire suppression?"

Gouts of thick black smoke were now pouring into the room. A quick glance around revealed that most of the crew had already attached their breathing packs, and the rest were scrambling for equipment of their own.

"Activate our fire suppression systems now!"

"Electrical is down, we've lost manual control!"

As visibility rapidly degraded into a dark haze, the gravity well alarm began sounding. A brief look showed the surface of the world- this accursed world- that had caused the invasion so much grief. A vast, rocky continent loomed below, stretching from horizon to horizon.

"No means of control at all?" shouted Tsierik to the helmsman.

"None! Should we give the order to abandon ship?"

Tsierik calculated. Nalese fighters still buzzed around the ship, although their assault had lightened. It would take too long to get the crew back to the fighters, and they were likely to suffer the same fate as their earlier predecessors. Escape pods? Possible, but they had a very high fatality rate when launched this close to a planetary body. The last alternative was to try and safely land the ship. A tremendous supercarrier holding thousands of fighters, the better part of a kilometer in length. A ship with no controls.

"Proceed to the escape pods! Immediately."

Power flickered across the ship, as more and more of the backup systems gave out, or lapsed between activity and failure. The helmsman shouted.

"I've got our stabilizers on! We've got a backup power source going!"

"Backup electrical systems online, we've got fire suppression on manual control!"

Thick foam blasted out through the airvents that had previously been belching smoke and flames, somewhat smothering the incoming fumes.

"Wing Commander!" came a new voice.

"Yes?"

"The pods... they're all..."

"Oh hell, not the Nalese?"

"Almost all ruptured or suffering surface damage."

Tsierik cursed this turn of events, but struggled to regain the composure to speak.

"Very well. If you want to risk the escape pods, take them now. Helmsman, do you still have controls?"

A critical gravity well alarm went off as the helmsman answered in the affirmative.

"Then I shall remain with the ship. We shall live and die together. Will you?"

A handful of crew rushed to the escape pods, jettisoning with rumbles that shook the already-fractured frame of the Scafiri. Several of them exploded dramatically, others simply fizzled out, while a few burst out intact, spiraling out of sight. Space was beginning to acquire a distinct blue colour as the Scafiri sank into the planet's atmosphere, and the Nalese fighters pulled off, content to watch their kill plummet down towards its demise.

Tsierik-Lufor Khaz-Dio, Commander of Omicron Wing, temporarily set aside his feelings of fury towards this betrayal. They could wait. For now, his remaining crew had a supercarrier to land.

Name: John Winters/The Resistance
Species: Human
Role/Organizational Structure: Independant Organization
The Resistance is made up of people who believe that Earth should be a human world and that the aliens should be kicked off the planet. The Resistance is primarily based in the abandoned Las Vegas suburb of Primm, Nevada, although it has a few hackers that work for it all over North America.

Fighting members of the Resistance are called Knights. The entire Resistance is led by a council of seven elected Resistance Princes, who form a council that rules the organization. The ultimate leader is called the Resistance King. The current one is Captain John Winters, formerly USAF.

There are non-fighting members, who are interested in studying alien tech to better human lives, as well as a few hackers who work for the organization.

Sergeant Rodigurez dived under cover as a laser beam vaporized the Major in a single hit. "DAMN IT, RETURN FIRE!" Rodigurez barked. The other soldiers snapped out of their shock and began firing wildly at the direction from which the beam came from.

Two more laser beams, and Private Simmons and Felatio both turned to dust as well. Then a blue glowing round object came out of nowhere and blew everyone except Rodigurez away.

Rodigurez let out every single curses that he knew and leaped out of cover. Smoke cloud from the blue device was clearing and he could see the alien that destroyed his squad in such a short notice. A tall bird-like alien wielding assortments of weapons and wearing a strange looking armor. He raised the rifle and fired... and watched as the bullet merely bounce off of the alien's strange armor. Several rapid clicks afterward told Rodigurez he was out of ammo.

The alien turned its head as if curious. Rodigurez let out a roar, threw aside his gun, and charged the alien with a knife. The alien however, despite all the gear upon its body, was unnaturally quick. It sidestepped Rodigurez's charge and smacked him in the back, letting Rodigurez to fall to the ground. The alien stepped over to Rodigurez's side and twisted the knife away from his hands.

"Damn you! You killed everyone!" Rodigurez yelled. Alien nodded as if understanding. "You'll pay for that you big fat ostrich!" But by then, the alien seemed to be interested in something else. It reached down and rummaged through the sergeant's rucksack until it pulled out a... can of SPAM?

The alien put it into its own rucksack, chirping satisfiedly, turned around, and waved to Rodigurez before leaving him in a confused heap.
