Pie's Ancient Europe

; Set to 1 for no python exception popups
HidePythonExceptions = 1

Do they both need to be set at 1, thx.

Also found

; Enable the logging system
LoggingEnabled = 0

oh, sorry I thought it is called "Show Python Errors"... so

HidePython... set to 0
LoggingEnabled - I don't know, if this is necessary, but you could have a try with or without it.
I could imagine that you'll need to set this to 1.

and HAPDebugger just let the zero number

Got it, I will check my settings and restart a game to see if it happens again and when, will let you know next few days, it may not be until the weekend that I get much playing time. I do like the mod alot, I can tell you put alot of time into it.

Great!

Thx, this mod IS for all the lovers of ancient times....

... and I am very accurate by implementing historical and human facts...

@ all: I hope this is in your interests too and this mod matches your imaginations!

The new version is being planned at the moment....

This mod sounds just great! Ill try it after work.

pie_at already said he was going to try to merge it with BUG for next patch, but could maybe somebody with experience in merging do it sooner? I really became pretty dependant on bug for playing civ :P

had to play with unmodded interface for a multiplayer game the other day and it was like owwwww

I'll try to add the BUG mod, at least in some way (main buttons), although I do not really like its buttons... perhaps I'll have to change that too.... puh.... lots of work....

I played yesterday quite a bit and the mod is great. I played as the iberians, since starting in a peninsula with only 1 chokepoint looked like a good way to practice the mod. I'm doing pretty good, since for the first game I only took noble (or maybe prince)

I got another problem with the mod tho, maybe related to the lost of the interface at the start. When I open foreign window, its a bit messed up. The relation tab works great, but if I click on techs tab, it is empty and I also lose the buttons to switch to another tab until I restart the game.
Somebody mentioned I should uninstall BUG. But how is that? I mean, a mod is something you load/unload in the game, or even start with it by changing the civ.ini file. But how do I uninstall it?

I do not know much about the BUG mod, but I know, that I've changed the main interface (city screen with the new tabs under the improvement list), the religion screen (to place 8 religions instead of 7) and the civic screen.

That's because the bug mod refers to an existing interface file and could have problems...

I hope anyone can help you to uninstall this thing or you just have to wait for the next version... sry for such circumstances

but another thing:
you're from madrid! would you like to translate the text files to spanish?
although... the next version will get some new features... just have a break for that ;)

kaltorak, if you want the normal interface back, then go to the mod folder of Pie's ancient europe, open the Pie's ancient europe.ini in there (rightclick, open with wordpad/notepad), and change
PHP:
; Custom XML and Python from user folder are not loaded
NoCustomAssets = 0

to:
PHP:
; Custom XML and Python from user folder are not loaded
NoCustomAssets = 1

This will prevent BUG from loading and so will not result in a conflict with Pie's interface.

The_J, I wish I knew that before I uninstalled mine :) BUG utilizes Windows registry for install/uninstall, so you can do so from Windows's Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. In any case, I now have BUG installed as Mod (for multiplayer), so it won't conflict with any existing mods I have installed. I find this is a better option. In BUG's knowledge-base (I forgot where), they mentioned that you can have BUG autoload when you run Civ4 Bts normal game.

Cool J, I'll try that when I arrive home, thanks :)

pie_at, about the traduction, Im not sure how much text it is. I could gladly translate tooltip texts or other short texts. But If you mean whole pedia articles, I won't have the time :/

@ono: yes, this is intended: crabs and clams only give food (clams give gold). but those things are not good in being smoked and traded from city to city in ancient times. smoked fish is ok.

@kaltorak: oh, no! the pedia texts are not important! but wait till the next update, I will ask again. (the texts will be: strategy, infos and objects in the text directory) and they aren't that much!

The religions are using the BTS's original sound effects, where greek uses hindu, celt budhist, etc. Any plan of changing them in the new version? TAM has custom sound effects, which is quite nice. You may want to consider using theirs (if they let you) or find something similar. It's just a minor cosmetic/aesthetic, but I think it adds to the atmosphere of the mod :)

What's the different the following?
(a) a unit with 25% Hills Strength
(b) a unit with 25% Hills Attack and 25% Hills Defense

Does the Hills Strength (essentially the same question for City Strength, and any other similar promotion) cover the following?
(a) Additional Strength when attacking a unit resting in a Hill
(b) Additional Strength when defending in a Hill
(c) Additional Strength when attacking FROM a Hill (I doubt this, but at least I ask)

Sadly The_J's trick didn't fix my foreign windows. I don't really know if it's bug's fault.

I wanted to ask about hapiness in this mod. I am well into the game now, got about 12 cities, and I can't grow them over 8. And it's been so for a long time.
I don't quite understand where we are supposed to get the happiness from. We got -2 for each religion, much less happiness buldings, no culture slider, and AI demands for 1 incense for example iron+horse+crab... I mean, why don't you also need my happy resource and trade it 1 for 1?

I'm doing pretty well in the game, since I am playing noble for practice, but unhappiness is annoying.

pie, if it is as you say you can send me texts to translate when you got them

kaltorak,

It could be something else that's causing the issue. Maybe your download is corrupted? Have you tried to redownload the mod and reinstall it?

As for city sizes, the mod is designed so that there's no megapolitan in the ancient time. You will need to watch for your cities's happiness and healthiness. If they are out of control, there could be nasty surprises (revolt, rebel, plague, etc) on your city. I check on all my cities every few turns and watch the log report on cities each turns to make sure I have happy and healthy cities.

Check out the civpedia "Pie's mod concepts". You'll get a whole lot of info on what to expect in this game.
