Platyping's Python

How do you allocate dummy buildings to individual leaders? Because I only know of allocating dummy techs/buildings to whole civilizations.

Elaborate what you mean by that.

Geez, when did this become the new Quick Modding Question Thread as well, Jamie all your fault :D

I have nothing to do with it :p I tried to make it quick python questions thread (which we still haven't started up yet... we can get The_J to sticky it and everything

A normal thread in the Python/SDK subforum would do it, IMHO.

How do you allocate dummy buildings to individual leaders? Because I only know of allocating dummy techs/buildings to whole civilizations.

Only doable via Python.

Geez, when did this become the new Quick Modding Question Thread as well, Jamie all your fault :D

Could move all the random Python questions out of here, if you really want to.

Some of these changes sound great, but...

Anyone else have problems decompressing the most current version of the gigapack download?

@The_J
Not really necessary :D

@nth
I tried, nothing wrong with it. It is a 7-zip file, so you have to unzip with 7-zip.
Using winrar will cause problems.

Some more mini changes:

South Pole Expedition
Added Modern Era as Max Start Era requirement.
It does not make sense to allow to build this project in Future Era Starts since the whole map is already revealed to all players.

Treaty of Versailles and Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
Removed "newline" in project help tag. (CvPediaProject)
It was no longer necessary

Gigapack
Fixed Gediminas Tower button pointed to wrong file
Reassign techs requirements for some works to stick within 8 slots

The 200th Wonder, the Last Wonder

Grand Theatre
Spoiler :
GrandTheatre.jpg

Actually, by now whoever is using my works alot, should have increased the requirements for cultural victory.
Else, with so many wonders giving culture, cultural victory is too easy to achieve.

This wonder is also advisable, in mods where cultural victory requirements have been increased, else it may be too OP, since 3 to 2 is a 33% cut. 4 to 3 or 5 to 4 may not be that bad :D

Countdown to 250: 1

Looking for a name for the last Project

Columbus' Discoveries
1) Added 3 more Natural Wonders to a total of 12 now.
Devil's Table, Pamukkale, Sugarloaf Mountain, Uluru, Baikal, Krakatoa, Pravcicka Brana, Victoria Falls, Basalt, Shark Bay, Ngorongoro Crater, Nukuoro
Refer to screenshots for the 3 new ones

2) Since there are now 12 NWs, added back a 75% chance to spawn for each wonder.
Thus, you won't see the same wonders spawned every game.

Leshan Giant Buddha (Remake)

The old Leshan uses onUnitCreated callback, and onReligionChange as well, which is having problems with UN resolution (Free Religion).

Thus, 1 stone kills 2 birds.
Got rid of a bug and callback at the same time.
The new leshan python is mainly done for the promotion rather than the wonder itself.
Serves like collateral damage, capped at 50%

Non Proliferation Treaty (Revised)

NPT-2.jpg

The old one makes players who are annoyed/furious to declare war immediately with whoever launched a nuke successfully, so long as NPT is built by anyone.

The new one makes players who are pleased/friendly with the victim to declare war immediately with the nuke owner, provided the victim has NPT.

Thus, this new one makes more sense as the old one may be built by an AI who actually loves to nuke.
Also, sounds better for people who are nice to you to sympathise you and declare war, rather than people who are fed up with the nuker to declare war on the nuker.
At least, this way you will have to manage your relationship well for it to be effective.
Changed it to a Team Project since many countries take part in it in real life, and more fun in game as well.

@The_J
Yeah, I agree with Grand Theatre.
Already highlighted to them, use at own risk :D
Use in mods where Cultural Victory difficulty has been raised.

@ NPT, do you have a check to make sure that the allie is more allied with the victum? If the allie is pleased with victum yet friendly with nuke owner doesnt make sence. I think a scale would make more sense to me, needs to be two worse evertyime (so relationship with the victum needs to be two scales higher than with nuke owner, ex. pleased with victim annoyed with owner is war, but pleased with victim and catuios with owner means no war). Seams more realistic to me

Done, added a check, if friendly with nuke owner, not affected :D
Don't really care about pleased with both, if pleased with both I guess it is acceptable he sympathise with the victim.

P.S.
Found a candidate for the last project already :D
There are a few more I wanna revise before I release the last work and close shop

Great Firewall

I decided to shift Code of Hammurabi's effect over to Great Firewall.
Because that is how it is supposed to be in Civ V.
Advantage is that Great Firewall is now a build and forget work as well, so good for performance as well. (Since it is a project, no need to care about City Captured, Razed, etc)

As a result, Code of Hammurabi got a new effect, don't wish to use the old GF's effect since that is pretty similar to another work, Trojan Horse.
The chance of a free Scotland Yard = Population out of 100
In other words, when a city grows to size 20, there is a 20% chance.
Seriously, I don't understand why Scotland Yard which is such a modern tall building have no requirements, (this is BTS problem, not mine) so may look weird when you see that pop up in XXX BC.

@The_J
Hmm, not sure what you mean, it is just a wonder giving free building once awhile.
How does the freebie disturb your strategy?

SETI (Revised)
Old:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0001-10.jpg

New:
Spoiler :
SETI-1.jpg

Remake of my classical work :D
One of my first satisfactory "complicated" works (at least it was complicated with my skills at that time :D)

The old one grants different benefits during war only, like killing random enemy for you, spawning units near their capitals and even a backfire where aliens assault your capital instead.

The new one effects are much easier to code:
1) Spawns a alien unit (similar to old SETI)
2) Spawns another different unit
3) Grants 100 to 1000 gold
4) Grants a new promotion to random unit (combat type of course)
5) Great General Points (similar to old SETI)

I tried using the UFO unit in the database, but failed to get it working as air unit, so instead I use another unit of Saibotlieh as a 2nd variety.
Thus, I use another model for the initial Alien unit as well to fit the new one.

Edit:
Added a mounted version as well
Thus, an uber version of each outdated unit class, Melee, Archer, Mounted

The chance to spawn any of the five is 1%, 3% for the promotion, thus total is 8% for something to happen.
Pretty slim chance because it is a check done each turn, so less chance to occur, less performance issue.
As a result, the alien units are boosted quite alot, and the promotion is pretty nice as well.

Could not find anything to use from the Alien VS Predator movie, so end up using it as a new button.

@The_J

Because I haven't played Civ for way too long and thought that Scotland Yard was a national wonder .
-> changed my mind, it's indeed a good idea.

Not sure if I like the new SETI much more, but with the 3 different unit classes is sure a nice idea.

@SETI
Yeah, after the remake, it does lose abit of creativity.
But creativity comes with more checks and loops :D

Buddhas of Bamiyan (Remake)
Old:
Spoiler :

New:
Spoiler :
Bamiyan-1.jpg

1) Main Reason is old one uses Change State Religion codes, which have the UN Resolution bug.
Thus, rather than apply the UN fix to each of these, i rather remake some which are dull looking.
2) Old effects are pretty dull, new one may be more refreshing? :hmm:
3) Performance issue. Old one uses quite alot of codes in different areas. New one is pretty much a one line code, ignoring the define player and if player has wonder line :D

Will definitely use the new SETI Program in Ad Infinitum! Imagine, an Elven unit with both the Enchanted Blade and Lightsaber promotions...

Glad you like it :D
Not too sure what is the Enchanted Blade though, my movie knowledge is limited :D
Only things that came to my mind regarding Aliens is the Alien/Predator series and Starwars.
Too bad, don't have Civ IV units that resemble aliens or predators

The lightsaber promotion itself is not available for any unit through normal leveling, except if granted by the SETI program itself.
You can edit that if you like, simple XML changes

We have a Terminator unit, if that comes close enough for something scifi related...
