Playing With The Advisor

I think the advisors are being bribed by the other civs. That's the only logical explanation unless... are they part pumpkin?

Try to get some wins. Rank down and choose an easier setting to get a win. You were outteched with panzers and modern units. The recommendations and advisor tips sometimes make sense but civvers usually know what to do without following the advisor.

Heh, you didn't read the thread, did you?

four suggestions I haven't noticed yet on how to do well in the "must always go with the advisor" challenge:
1) Slavery would be a REAL favorite civic for the longest time. As one of the players pointed out, if you have to build crap...build it fast.
2) Turn OFF the advisor......and slightly less cheaterific than that
3) open worldbuilder and worldbuild in a single Tank unit for yourself?
4) or more seriously...if you could luck out to get to feudalism.....if you can get vassals, take them...the odds are the advisors are going to ask you to gift back and liberate cities ANYWAYS, might as well have vassals that are pleased with you...and odds are they are going to be more militarily powerful than you before 1400 AD.....so you're gonna need a decent war thrall....

General: Withour new special, gift-of-the-great-god-Cheatbuilder, this mighty weapon will GUARANTEE our victory! We might only have one, but with it, we shall DESTROY all civilizations on this continent.....um...except ours....

Major Adjutant: Sir, I am glad you are now warlord of this mighty armored battlewagon....in our next objective, we have two choices for attack....a hilltop fortified spearman, or a Longbow fortified in London with City Garrison three.....but fear not, we have according to our sages a 99.6% chance of winning either....

General:....RETREAT!!! RETREAT!!!!....use our medic three scout as a vanguard, throw away our retinue of supporting axemen....but we must FLEE!!! FLEE!!!

...the advisor said so...

I think the worst thing would be all the cities you would have to gift away.

This thread should be put in the Civ IV Info section as a warning to all newbies who think the advisor is a good guide.
