There really needs to be these spawns. Into the night is useless MP, because everyone knows where the HN svart hunter came from. Esus is essentially useless because nightwatch come from the guy who got Esus.

There just need to be some random spawns "bandits have begun raiding the road between CITY1 and CITY2" (spawn HN nightwatch)

"poachers have been reported in our hunting grounds!" (spawn svart HN 5/4 hunter)

In mp games, I try the strategy of capturing bears/animals early to kind of get the flavor of HN attacks, but it really sucks, and they take forever to heal, plus animals die easy.

Esus sucks as it is in MP, please give it a little suspense. :)

I definitely agree. Veil of the Night was the first world spell I used when playing FFH and brought me a lot of pleasure for my first game. In MP you could as well replace it by "give your unit another flag if you like skulls better than your current one". I love the flavor and the idea behind the world spell and would love to see it work in MP too.

In FF you could just create a barbarian faction that begins to spawn if Deception is researched for the first time. Perhaps in the city radius of cities with a crime rate higher than 25%. Every leader with Esus State religion is in peace with them. Similar for Svartalfar and all other factions that work with Hidden Nationality. Spawn them in forests once hunting is researched. Would make settling much more a challenge. In FFH it's more difficult as those tools are not available which is really a pity as I consider the separation of the three different barbarian factions one of the main advantages FF has above FFH (especially for Demons - Why Clan is spared by the Apocalyptic riders and Sheaim are not always was a big riddle for me...).

P.S.: Can you actually hide promotions from other players? Thus is it possible that you see the HN promotion, but your opponents don't?

Maybe a Nightwatch or other esus unit could "appear" as currently common barbarian unit, a nightwatch in disguise as an orc champion so to say, but as soon as one enemy unit escapes from combat the cover is blown and you are busted.

It wouldn't matter how they look like though, you can tell a human player simply from the (hopefully) smarter unit behaviour.

Are HN units kicked out when you declare war? If not, then you could quietly shuffle your Svartalfar units into your opponent's territory, hiding them behind his workers for extra stealth, then cast Veil of the Night, delcare war, and catch him with his pants down. Esus gives a similar effect, but this way you can do it without it or with another religion.

HN Units can't capture cities.

They can't, but they also aren't kicked out of borders. I generally position my HN army, take out most of his units, and then declare war, declare nationality with a few units, and take him out.

Ah, got it.

OP, that's not a bad idea. Since there are already the "spiders have infested a mine" events and "a hill giant wants your pigs" events, similar code already exists. So you could create an "oh darn, nightwatch on the roads" or "those dratted poachers" event by cut-paste-modifying existing events instead of creating an entirely new one (as far as I know, adding new events doesn't require editing the DLL, but it's totally possible that I'm wrong). I'm going to try it, and I recommend that you give it a go if you feel comfortable editing the files in question. "You should add X" is always a harder sell than "you should add X, and here's some code that adds X."

Am I right in thinking that declaring/hiding nationality seems to delete and recreate the unit in very short order? If so, I would THINK that all HN units could be given the same Barbarian model...

Hidden Nationality could definitely be made ALOT stronger if all units looked like barbarian warriors or something ... :D

My personal suggestion would be making them appear as 40% orcs 40% goblins and 20% wolf riders ... and of course the DEADLY surprise of oh wait ... NOOO PHALANXES!

This would not help the Svartalfar which should work the most with HN as their recon units have a promo that everyone can see and than changes their strength.

I am considering adding art this summer, since I do 3d modeling... but I cant code. In fact the only class I ever got lower than a B- in was computer coding 2... I failed it... and I really tried too. Computer logic makes no sense to me whatsoever. My coding sucks bad, and I promised my school I would never take a coding class again, seriously. I was really upset.

Your principal made you swear to never take a computer coding class again? Harsh.
