Poll: whats the most usless wonder.

The Great Wall really sucks. By the time i have construction the barbs are gone, and the walls are useless because my towns are usually becoming cities.

The collosus is good. Who can say no to extra money?

Well, in C3C, the Great Wall puts a wall in every city of yours on the same continent. It's very useful.

It's mainly for the automatic no turn required walls in newly conquered cities...

And it gets really annoying when the AI gets the Great Wall.

The Mannhatten Project: This wonder allows EVERYBODY to build nukes  . It gives you and all your enimes a gift. The gift to blow stuff up. But the ability to use nukes is worth nothing unless you actully do use them. And we all know using them has incredible consequnses. Really nukes arn't a big gift anyway cosidering this. Plus if you don't build it someone else probably will and if you wait for that you won't have to waste all that time building it.
If TMP was a small wonder instead of being a great wonder, it would be completly useless. What do you need to build nukes? First a tech and then TMP. If everyone needs to build TMP, it will take a lot of time until a civ could start making nukes. In this case, TMP should be a tech, not a wonder.

TMP is a great wonder to tell everyone "beware, now nukes can be built". When you see someone finish TMP, you'll know he can build nukes, so you'll need to run towards that tech which gives nukes. If there isn't this "warning", you could receive some nukes in your head without knowing someone was building them.

The Manhatten Prodject. I always downgrade it to a SW in my mods.

Manhattan is not useful for me, because I do not go to war in Modern age often, but otherwise it is cool for war.

I'm torn between the manhattan project and longevity, as everyone else here has started to mention. I think nukes should just come with the tech that they need. No wonder, no small wonder. When you know someone has the tech, you know they can build nukes if they have the resources, as Ramalhao mentioned. There's no reason to have a small wonder because if you can build the nukes why waste your time with a small wonder. If I could make mods I would just eliminate the idea of a wonder, small, or big, proffering the prospect of nuclear war and leave it at a tech. I think having it as a big wonder is actually better than as a small wonder for the same reason but that's just me.

I don't think the colossus is too bad. I do agree you almost always have something better to build, but it gives some nice culture and ok money (don't forget it'll probably eventually be a tourist attraction if you have C3C) if you're forced to switch to it, which shouldn't happen very often.

I do hate the odd growth problem that is exacerbated by Longevity, and no one ever goes around building it my games, the AI is usually licking my boot while I tear down their infantry with modern armor. The game is usually over before I can even build it, for that matter. I'm going to vote for Longevity.

I'm going to vote United Nations. Diplomatic is such a cheap way to lose.

MoM - Making three citizens happy in one city is not worth the shields IMHO. Build a market instead.

IMHO this discussion will not really lead to any really meaningful conclusions. So much depends on the game parameters.

If you want to push the tech pace, the Great Library is useless.

If you play archipelago, the Great Wall is useless.

If you play pangea, the Great Lighthouse is mostly useless.

If you want to achieve 20K, every Wonder you can grep is priceless.

If you go for a histographic win, Longevity is an excellent Wonder.

etc.

It really depends but I'd say Shakespeare's Theatre

Personally, when I'm not going for a cultural victory, I tend to avoid wonders that only benefit one city. Prefering those that benefit every city on the continent. The exception being when I've been beaten to a particular wonder and I've got to switch and don't want to waste shields.

I also tend to avoid most (if not all) ancient age wonders since there are usually far more pressing things to build. Not to mention that most of them expire too (and becomming a tourist attraction doesn't really make up for this IMO).

I also avoid wonders that clash with my traits. For instance, building the pyramids when you're an agricultural civ, or Sun Tsu's when you're militaristic, etc.

Score for wonder usefulness: out of 10.

Here's what I think, considering everything including benefits, use-by tech, shield cost, tech tree, culture, cash etc:
