How can I make all those jerks in the world who sneak stupid toolbars and antivirus stuff and browser and ETC into my software updates STOP WASTING MY PRECIOUS TIME?

[pissed]

...don't install them?

uninstall them?

...don't install them?
I have to do like a zillion updates every day, and they always sneak it in one of the gajillion windows it makes me go through where I have to uncheck some box to not install them. Sometimes I miss a checkbox okay?!

uninstall them?
I do, but it's a pain the butt, can't they just not have it so I don't install them?

Use the Opera Internet browser, because all the toolbars are set by default to be installed on Internet Explorer.

Well, I use Firefox (and no I shouldn't have to change because some jerkholes wanna install crap), so it's not a no IE thing.

Also it's not just toolbars it's other stupid crap.

I tear toolbars apart until it has to get glued back together....

...in HELL!!!

I have a toolbar bonfire in my backyard about once a week. You guys should come some time, it's a load of fun!

I read this for some reason as "Political action: DOWN WITH GODDAMN CROWBARS" at first and wondered if it had finally started...

It used to annoy me, I had about 6 toolbars stealth install when I used to use IE.

I have Chrome now though and all the screen (nearly) is used for the web.

I always thought of Perfection as the sort of guy who liked to hang out in sleazy toolbars though.

If you've ever helped a non-techie with their Internet setup, you might have noticed that most of their browser window was filled with various tool bars. It's a good idea that got horribly abused by people trying to make a buck off of search results/ads. I think browsers should only allow one toolbar to be operational at a time and the rest hidden behind a menu.

Yeah toolbars really do suck. Luckily Chrome keeps things simple, but I understand switching browsers unless forced to do so due to terrible quality is pain.

It's pissing me off, too.

It seems everytime you update Firefox you have to re-install flash player. Flash player install sneaks a McAfee security scan onto your system, though you can choose not to install it but it's easy to miss.

Java updater also tries to sneak a Yahoo toolbar on.

They should make a law that states that the check boxes have to be unchecked by default.

Unenforceable; they'd change the option to "check here to omit xyz," or just not give you a chance to opt out at all.

Why don't you just install Firefox + NoScript + Adblock. Never have to worry about unwanted malware or ads popping up ever again.
