Portugese Domination through Colonization, an AoI story

week 1 Transoceanic Radio signal built and 3 techs discovered that week, Destroyers II, Predrednoughts IV, and Artillery doctrine, this put Portugal into a new era.
On the war front progress was being made, Leopoldville, the Capitol of the Belgian Congo was taken with almost no casualties, however when the same was tried in the Caribbean against Willhelmstad, all of the cavalry were killed.

week 9 Fort Franqui was taken with almost no Portuguese deaths, but many wounds. This split the Belgian Congo in half.

Britain and America both demand 100 gold, reluctantly Carlos said yes.

week 17 Russia sign a peace treaty with Britain
Elizabethville was taken, but this time 3 units of Infantry and Cavalry were destroyed.
a spy reveals Lowland troop plans, They had more than was thought, in fact it appeared as if they planed on attacking Portugal itself!

week 21 Elizabethville finally taken.
A naval engagement outside the city of Porto would prove to be one of the largest sea battles of the war, the Battle of Porto.
it started at 9:00 AM with Bombardments, then 2 Portuguese PCs sink 2 Dutch and Belgians, the 3rd PC however attacked a Belgian PC and was destroyed, the Lowland navy retreated from the area and Portugal claimed victory.
2 Cavalry attack Lisbon, it was a huge shock, 1 died 1 retreated, sadly the retreating on killed a civil engineer, said cavalry unit was killed next turn.

week 25 saw more attacks on Lisbon and Porto, all repelled.

week 29 Spain needs 100 gold from us, Carlos replied "we Portuguese are not afraid of you", the Spanish understood.

week 33 Destroyers III researched, Vacuum tube in St. Louis, and a French attempt to plant a spy fails.

in week 41 3 Cavalry units attack Coquilhatville, only 1 died, 5 Lowland regiments were destroyed, the city was taken, only 1 city in the Congo remained Belgian, Stanleyville.

in week 45 2 Belgian Infantry regiments find all of Portugal's civil Engineers and kill them!
Lisbon completed the naval academy.

week 49 the invasion of Indonesia, which had been a stalemate for a year, was an epic fail, all Portuguese troops had to be evacuated and sent to Dili.
3 units of infantry and of Cavalry attack Stanleyville, only 1 made it out alive, but reinforcements were coming to help in the siege next year.
in Portugal, a Cavalry unit led by Carlos himself killed the 2 Belgian units in the trenches, that wasn't enough to avenge the civilians who were killed, more Lowland blood will need to be shed.
with that the year closed.

How fast is CivIII compared to IV? That looks really fun and I bet I can pick up an old copy for cheap.
 
Civ 3 is probably going to run faster then civ 4 because it uses much less of you're computers hardware. Note that a 256*256 31 civ map can still probably bring you're computer down to a snails pace if the game conditions are right.
