Poser Users I need help!

Download and look through Utahjazz's tutorial. ;) It's the most helpful one there is. :)

the only advice I have is mess around and figure out the basics on your own
This might sound awful, but Shiro's advice is spot on. I know it doesn't seem helpful, but trust me, it's how we started out and it's the best way.

Alright then, an easy way of starting off:
Bjornlo has pointed out utahjazz7's excellent unit making tutorial. It really is an idiot's guide (that's why I was able to use it ;) ). Print it off. Download the paperdoll and all the props you can get for free in the thread he's set up in the tutorials and guides section. Follow utahjazz7's guide to the letter. Then try deviating and experimenting from there.

Hey, Sword_Of_Geddon, congratulations on getting Poser! Now you can create some of the units you've requesed. I wrote my tutorial for someone having little or no experience with Poser, so you should be able to follow it. Now, the step by step animation is for a spear-using unit. You'll have to adapt it for a swordsman or whateer else, but the basic principles will be the same.

Good luck.

Hello,
We have a common problem Sword of Geddon :) - I just got Poser 6 too and I'm just looking over Utahjazz's tutorial. My question: is this tutorial good for poser 6 also because I see he's talking about poser 5 in his tutorial. I have no experience whatsoever with these sort of programs but I want to try creating my own units so...I would appreciate any help.

Can I just add my voice to al those who suggested using UtahJazz's tutorial for poser. I use poser 6 and ther are a few things you need to bear in mind though. For some reason a lot of the props that Utah uses don't work in 6. Curious Labs at work I think. Unless it';s just me. So your best bet might be to do what I started doing. Use the model Jessi supplied with 6 as there are lots of props for her that can have colours textures added to change the look, camo etc and look around on the net for any freebie 3d objects that are around, There a few sites that do them then play around. Poser 6 is quite easy once you have messed around with it for a little while. Also look in the help section as 6 has a pretty useful set of tutorilas and instructions.

Hope this helps.

Now if i could only figure out how to change the poser anims into flc's life would be fine lol

you have to render as an image rather than as an AVI file, then open each of the image files the render creates in Paintshop pro and paste them one by one over an existing flc. To do this, use flicster and open an existing flc. Then export. Then open the PCX file this creates and cut and paste as I said above. This is why Utah and the others don't take every request under the sun
