Hello,

Just back from a trip to Mexico and visiting the Mayan Ruins. I know that the Incans are in the Basic Civ 4(Vanilla) but the Mayans were a bit different. Much more commercial and such. I have tried searching the threads but there does not seem to be anything.

If there is if someone could let me know if not is a Mayan one possible?
A mayan civ is included in my modpack as well as CIV Gold. Both modpacks have Civ4 Vanilla & Warlords versions available.

HERE is the link to my modpack for Vanilla. You can do a search for CIV Gold in the modpack forum or I think there may be a link a few posts up from this in Wyz_sub10's signature.

I want to design and build my own Civilizations, how do you begin, (I.E. Do I need to buy extra software, etc to accomplish this feat)?

No, I've done pretty much my entire modpack (soon to include 40 new civs) with MS Notepad and a paint program. I use PSP but there are link's to GIMP in the Utilities section, it's free.

Check out this tutorial. It was originally written for Vanilla (non-Warlords) Civ4 but it should get you started. Another good way to learn is by downloading someone else's new civ and then looking at the contents of their mod to see what they did. [EDIT] If you look at my Byzantium civ (see link in my signature), I think I included a "XML changes.txt" file that lists all the XML changes that I made as well as the name of each xml file that was edited.

Good luck and watch out, it's contagious.

Thank you for the link - I look forward to playing not just the Mayans but a number of the others as well. Pretty soon we will have to have Civ4 in the classroom to teach kids about history!!

Since there is no search in this forum, I will make a post for a civ... If it exsists please provide a link for me. I am looking for a Slovak civilization, I know where is Czech one, but it won't do for me. Thanks.

I know someone has made a Britain civ before but is not for warlords version 2.08. could someone please make one. here are some suggestions.

Seems to work fine for me on 2.0.8, what issues are you having with it?

How odd. What file does it say is missing?

I downloaded the file to ensure I was usning the same version that is up there and played a full game on Warlords 2.0.8, is anyone else having problems with it?

Okay I'm almost ready to start my new Confederate civilization, and have run into my first of many walls.

What the heck is this:

Assets\XML\Art\CIV4ArtDefines_Civilization.xml
Assets\XML\Art\CIV4ArtDefines_Leaderhead.xml
Assets\XML\Civilizations\CIV4LeaderHeadInfos.xml
Assets\XML\Civilizations\CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml
Assets\XML\GameInfo\CIV4DiplomacyInfos.xml
Assets\XML\Interface\CIV4ColorVals.xml
Assets\XML\Interface\CIV4PlayerColorInfos.xml
Assets\XML\Units\CIV4UnitInfos.xml

I got it from the tutorial and need to know if these are supposed to be files names or path ways to save ones note pad files, I'm confused?

Those are the files you need to edit. You can open and save them in Notepad.

I highly recommend downloading a single-civ mod and simply editing the content of the Mod folder to include CSA.

Thanks! :D

I will try it when I get another chance to sit down and work on these projects; I plan on making a "test" Confederate Civ, before I embark on the tedious job of creating the real Confederate Civ and corresponding Civil War Global Scenario.

Any other advice?

anyone interested in doing a frankish civ (carolgian franks, charlemange)

I Personally would like to see Judah added as a civ. I know Israel is out there, but Judah I believe is a different civ. If anyone would do this I'd appreciate it.
