how do you take an image file and make it a poster? do you have to take it to some shop, like kinko's? or do you some printer that lets you print bigger than 8.5x11?
and i second the world map. I have an old looking world map that i've had over my bed for years.

i have a plotter at work.
i have been known to print out very long posters, as the plotter is limited only by width (91cm x any length you want) we also have high quality glossy poster rolls of paper
if you dont have one at work, i suspect kinko's (which i have no idea what it is, but im guessing a large printing shop chain?) will be happy to take your money off you.
i also know about places that print out your image files onto a canvas.
for asize A0 (poster size) it will have to be around 4MB in size for a decent quality print.
naturally, the bigger/denser pic the bigger output or quality you get.
so - YES, you can track down these files and print them out.
