I decided to start a thread about the cities themselves, since the messenian war thread doesnt need to be busy for no reason that has to do with the scen itself (this way it will be easier to note if it does or doesnt draw attention anyway).

-they are now complete-

Paths arent easy to make, at least not for me. I am modelling this mostly out of a reconstruction of ancient olympia:

I really like your work, but it looks to orderly. Lets get some crowded, compact, dirty chaos in there.

i will try to add some dirt once the main set is done, i am moving on with the metropolis. The large new building will not be like this in the end, this is the first sketch. Do you like the flags?

It looks very nice, though i agree the look is too, um, 'clean'. There needs to be some dirt around those nice buildings. :)

I will do the following changes:
- new shades (probably something with a mostly pale green colour)
-improved roof of the main building (done now)
-possibly change the floor of the arena (your view?)
-perhaps add some more paved walkways, as the central one in the temple gate.
-finish the south-eastern corner

also i could have size #1 be the "walled city", moving the metropolis to size #2. Or i will make a different walled city with stone walls, not wooden.

their current state can be seen in post #1 ;)

they are done i think. i added an owl statue in the metropolis (athena was the patron godess of pre-classical Sparta, classical Sparta had zeus as its patron god)
