Pre- orangeNES: FFHRemixed?

Hi! Welcome to this corner of the internet...

Nations only. I'm trying to get them done now, so that I can focus only on characters when the time comes. Plus, as I think about it, I may have the nations run through an update to get "warmed up" first; I haven't decided yet.

Remember, I said "may or may not - I'm going to try to get as many as I can done today, but this first sending is going to include a lot of "extras" and takes me a while to do. Don't expect immediate results, and if I don't get to you today I might not be able to get to you until Friday or Saturday. That's just the way it is.

Once again, I encourage nations to take a glance at the first couple posts. The military and lore sections have been updated, and maybe economy too... I forget.

I appreciate the emails; I'm still missing one or two. I'll need them for when I eventually get stats out, and because I expect that once we get underway all orders and questions will go through email instead of PM's.

As always, I encourage feedback and suggestions. Just post if you have an idea, or PM me if you'd rather keep it secret.

FOR CHARACTERS: Again, I haven't forgotten about you. The nations will get done first, then I'll finish off your half of the NES. A couple of you have offered good suggestions to me; I love that, and would like to see more.

Don't worry about sending me an email yet - your turn will, again, come later. Sit tight, think up ideas, and if you want, glance over the recent changes to the nations' section. Some of them may affect you, depending on who your character is.

Quadruple-post!

Anyway, I've been unable to work with the numbers today, so instead I did a little bit of wordplay. I encourage everyone to take a look at post #3, which now has a lot of useful lore that the nations especially will want to know. Characters, I've just begun on some of the non-numerical parts of that half of the NES, so take a look at the end of post #2.

I've got a test now, so I'll be more or less unavailable to do much with this through the rest of the day, and probably a large part of tomorrow. Aloha, mates!

EDIT: and man, are you guys quiet... I don't know if I'm doing good, or bad. I need feedback, people. I want to make sure everyone understands what's going on, I want to make sure that all my mistakes or bad ideas are found out, etc. etc.

I read post 3- looks good. i like the 'wall'

@Immac: Thanks. I needed to explain the end of the map somehow... and besides, Erebus is flat anyway.

Note to everyone: I eliminated two slots, one character and one nation.

Sadly, I decided to kill off a character already. As I considered it, I came to the conclusion that he wasn't worth the effort. So, everyone say goodbye to Orthus: we hardly knew ye.

BUT, don't be concerned. The other characters are, in my opinion, vastly better and more interesting than he would have been. That's right; more interesting, and probably more deadly, than the nationkilling orc king...

There's one last character slot, and the guy that's left is good enough for me to justify wanting one more player to put there.

As for nations, yeah, I removed one of them as playable too. The Sheiam are just too isolated, despite the ideas I had for what they could become. Oh, well - more fun for me as NPC, I guess.

So, our new maximum number of players is down to a slightly more manageable 16, and I don't have to worry about quite as much stuff to have to create. I'm sad I had to do it, but the two slots I axed were definately the two that were easiest to lose.

Hope it's not something like the Baron, Acheron, or Tebryn. Or else anyone near them just might see the word 'speed NESing' with a whole new meaning

Again, lots of minor changes today. I'm mostly done with nations, and will hopefully get stats out through the weekend. Still waiting to see if we get one more - if that last spot isn't filled by Sunday, I'll probably close it so that I can focus on characters and getting them done.

You know that if you really want it filled, you can ask the characters if they would like to switch (alhough I am pretty happy with who I am, if the last one is that awesome... *_*)

In response to some player questions, I've added another section on magic to the Lore area. It expands on the general idea a bit, and gives some better instructions to nations on what they'll be allowed to do with Arcane units.

And no, I won't be changing my interpretation of Erebusian magic. I think it's more lore-appropriate to FFH I think it works when taken in reference to the spells in the actual mod, and I like the different take on the limits of mages. It also forces some imagination from the player; when strength isn't an issue, the better mage is the one that uses his power most efficiently and originally. And no, I do not expect to be releasing an official list of spells, either. I like simple, and giant lists of spells aren't simple. I may, however, copy a list of the mod's spells as inspiration for those players that are less familiar with FFH.

As I write this, I realize that I haven't really addressed the question of Priests yet. I'll try to get on that, but not tonight. What I expect to have happen is that priests' major effect will be their local boost to morale and their healing abilities. Should they decide to pray for a god's active participation in a fight, the actual effect will be rather random depending on how that god feels that day, and how that god feels about the enemy. It may be nothing, it may be a giant hurricane, it may be the summon of angels.

Yeah I like that idea as far as priests go. In EkoNES I was thinking of a similiar thing. After all, mages can control their spells because they're channeling the actual magic, all a priest does is pray and hope for the best. I think I'll work it into the Faith mechanic. You build your God more temples and spread your religion to the land of heathens then your god will like you and reward you with some angels or some such. Should be fun anyway.

Do I dare to say, Divine intervention?
