I have been thinking a lot about the trading partner requirement for economies bigger than 10, the concept of trade is really underdeveloped in this ruleset. I didn't want to prevent or prohibit trade but it also means that the structures for monitoring and understanding trade as a statistic in itself are not there, I have new (and very colorful, while still being open and malleable) trade rules for future games that account for this, but I am not going to try to graft totally new trade rules into this game.
So, do not worry about having a "trade partner" to grow your economy over 10.
