Predicting Post-Patch Strategies

- Hadn't thought about using Legions for roads. Cheap extra Workers are cheap.

It's not just the cheap extra workers, it's the two workers per tile. Once you conquer the Pyramids (and have Citizenship), you can move a Legion and a Worker onto a tile and complete a road in one turn. That's not terribly important from a domestic perspective, but it's a nice boon to combat engineering, and can really enhance the strength of Ballistas, since with the roads, they can move, set, and shoot in one turn.

Unfortunately, Legions aren't much use in building roads inside the empire. The window of opportunity for swordsmen is pretty slim, and the opportunity cost of keeping them at home is pretty high. They are better off running around capturing more workers and taking a few cities.

Absolutely true, but you can always use them for Roads once the window closes and your second expansion phase is rolling. IIRC they don't retain the ability once upgraded, but you can defer the Longsword upgrade for some time.
