And the other Europeans just massacred everyone they could.
The European colonization was in the 19th century.

The worst place for the French colonization was Algeria, were many "native" were killed during 130 years. However, even with the worst estimate, we barely killed ... 10% of the population?

Now, make a count of the remaining native Americans, and re evaluate your statement about the benevolent Americans.

*grumble grumble*

Indeed, let us compare populations prior to 1492 and populations at 1775. Why do Europeans so conveniently try to forget that THEY were the big dogs on the block before 1776? And really, after 1776 only took east of the Mississippi south of Canada out of your hands. The rest (and Florida) was still controlled by Europeans. Take a guess when most of the aboriginal Americans died. Prior to 1775 or after.

They were americans, not Americans but still americans.

What's next? You'll tell me that the indian wars of the 19th century were in fact picnic parties between the US army and the native.

Beside, may I remind you that the US people did not magically appeared in 1776 (that would be a nice twist of creationism)? The people who killed native before 1775 where the same as after 1776, just repainted with an American flag.

Most of the killing were in fact due to disease

"While precise figures are difficult to arrive at, some historians estimate that up to 80% of some Native populations died due to European diseases"

Lord no, Steph. That and slavery are the two darkest chapters of our nation's history. We should never forget nor ever let anything like that happen again. I just get miffed when people seem to forget that it was our cousins across the pond centuries before that began the slaughter.

You are right, but as you said, the guilty is not the one who starts it, but also the one who carries it on.

I never said we were all white knights in shinning spotless armor.

This was an answer to Scipian who said the US is much better than EU, because the Europeans just massacred everyone they could.

Well, the Americans and the Europeans both DID their own share of killing, and, well, this information is slightly outdated.

Fair enough. Just wanted to make sure you guys admitted to being as big a bastards as we are. :crazyeye:

Not Ireland. We've never done a thing to anyone, unlike almost every other european country!

We may be bastards, but we are not as big as you. You are the one who eat burgers all the time. Our food habits are much better here.

That's why we like to play Rugby game against you. Ireland never beat anyone.

We beat England pretty bad last time out actually. And in a stadium where they massacred our civilians years ago. how ironic

Yes, you have us there. But be honest, could you really say no to The Baconator?

I was devastated :(

Could have been worse. If I'd have to pick one team to lose the qualification to, it'd be Ireland. The absolute best supporters in the world. If you win from them, they'll buy you a beer, if you lose to them, they'll buy you a beer.

It was hard to stay mad over it with you guys around. One of them nicked my Lions Head though as a trophy :D

edit: Hang on. That means I agree on your vote
