Press build preview

I appreciate the effort, and I’m not saying the Shawnee don’t have advantages, but I don’t really buy it.
You asked about logic, I provided. :dunno:

I’m not suggesting the AI thought all that through, it might just be that they’re all Economic and that was the deciding factor, who knows, but it’s really not an outlandish choice either way (regardless of what your expectations might be).

Yeah I meant no offense to you, I’m just not buying what you’re selling. A more believable explanation to me is that the choice was essentially randomized when she was denied Spain.

Yes, it is a stretch to go from Aksum to Shawnee. Isabella already unlocks Mexico and doesn’t need Shawnee to unlock it twice.

There is no geographical or historical relation between Aksum and Shawnee.
Does AI do gameplay unlocks too? If so that surely has to be the reason especially if gameplay unlocks seem rather easy, as many youtubers have suggested.

The explanation that certain Civs have better boni than others makes sense from a game play point of view. I do recall that the one of the biggest concerns were the weird combos we might be getting and maybe I am wrong, but didn't Firaxis claim that the AI is smart enough to go for the logical paths? To me, the decoupling of leaders and civilizations can only lead to what we are seeing right now. Might get better with more DLCs just like Ages. It's all geared towards new content.

Fair enough, no offense taken, you had just said that you wanted “to understand what might be appealing about the Shawnee choice.”

It might be random, it might be their Attributes, or tags like “Trade” and “Resource” that guide the decision. It’s impossible to know - I just don’t think there is any reason to assume the worst at this point. :)

I understand the "Economic" attribute connection, but the Shawnee, with a unique missionary and dependence on navigable rivers for food, do not seem like the colonial power you were describing. I'm not assuming "the worst" -- I just think it's very possible that the AI does not understand the civilizations as well as we assume it does and is making essentially random choices. I'm afraid to touch this third rail, but I will do it: a transition from Aksum to Shawnee, in my opinion, really is reminiscent of the drastic changes we have seen in games like Humankind. I appreciate that this will change with more paid DLC, and I understand all of the reasons why the AI may not be able to choose "better" historical paths, but this is the system we have.

On the bright side, I think this may be very good news for people like myself who have dreaded Shawnee going to America in every game. If the choices are random, then we really don't need to be concerned with what has been implied in that civ swap.

b) I've seen at least two games with duplicate civs in them
Duplicated civs are terrible for immersion. I hope they resolve this as soon as possible.

In JumboPixel's latest video, he is using Legions to fight Augustus Caesar.
Especially from Civ V/VI's (the games i played) Rome having the yellow on purple, I always associated that with swarms of Legions fighting under Rome. Having Legions fight Augustus Caesar's yellow on purple units is very offputting.

I have tried warming up to these Civ/Leader combinations but I don't know if I will ever warm up to that!

Well, maybe this Octavianus failed at his competition against Antonius.

Although we have seen that there is a modifier for "Previous Age", so whatever your ending stance was does seem to carry forward in some fashion.

Always disliked in Civ 6, that the AI still grudges you in the modern era for actions in the classical era.
Glad now, that the era system will reduce this significantly.

Can someone remind me when the review embargo ends again?

Does anyone here think there will be another round of YouTuber influencer videos before the official embargo? I could see some utility in showing off the Modern Age, again without the editorializing of a “review”.

Potato’s video, for example, ran almost 1.5 hours and he never even reached Exploration.

A couple people mentioned something about next week, and I’ve heard the date Feb 3 mentioned a couple times (maybe for unlimited?)

Could anyone give me a video or screenshot reveals the entire components in the Leader Path? (Not real entire list of all Leaders, I want just a full list of one random Leader) I know there are 10 components for each Leader, so how many gameplay bonuses and decorations within them?

My guess was 2 mementos, 2 nodes, 2 cards and 4 decoration. Am I right? Or does anyone knows the answer?

Not sure if I got everything, but I managed to grab a list up to level 10 for Hatshepsut in this post.
