*PREVIEW* stHSNES01 - Return to Monkey Island 2

What do we need to move to a real thread?

- How will the stats evolve as the game progresses?

Merchant
Class: Sailing Merchant
Captain Th'Osar Rindlewar
Player: Abaddon

Gunnery: 2+0=2
Luck: 3+4=7 (Lucky number 7 ;))
Nationality:French

Th'Osar, never fired a pistol in his life, well unless you count the time we was attempting to purchase one at the age of 12. The gun went off as he inspected it in awe, it shot off his little toe and he has since had a fear of them. Beyond this obvious departure in luck, he does have the occasional good winds, believes strongly in kharma. This tale does harm his leadership skills somewhat, but once on the waves he is without equal, driving through storms, cutting across the waves. It is ability to charter his vessal that draws to him the men he needs. Having sworn off guns, he preferes a less violet life, and its the merchant like for Th'Osar.

That's what the stats and luck are for

AAaaah! makes sense now...

Couldn't we ditch stats for some perks when starting ships are assigned? :D

50-gun ships are unfortunate in the fact they're neither here nor there.
Incapable of standing on its own in the line of battle, yet too slow and unmaneouvreable for independent frigate operations.

The 50s are generally a disliked breed.

Give me a sweet 24-gun frigate any day.

@human-slaughter, i cant speak for the new version of pirates that i havent played (the 3D one). The one i have fond memories of was the 90's version on the Amiga CD32.

By all accounts tho, the new version is pretty good. Though i hear some niggles about the opposing pirates being too easy to defeat.

Ive heard good things and supposedly you need to just ramp up the difficulty level.

Frigates are the bomb. Anything bigger than a frigate is too slow for piracy. Yarr!

I say, old chappies, I agree on frigates. Frightfully good ships for piracy...errr...privateering, don't you agree?

Seriously, I wouldn't mind a friagte.
