Princes of the Universe, Part I

A group of smelly Roman soldiers have yet to facethe wrath of their commanding officer. Scipio did disobey a direct order not to get involved. I hope his faithful followers are not expecting untold riches for destroying the Mongolian resistance.

Lepidus and his army will soon have to leave the city en route for the capital and Julius' showdwn with Kublai Khan.

Excellent story Sisiutil.

Is it not Genghis?

Excellent chapter, Sis. A really gripping read and it shows that you really must get going with something for publication asap. My guess is it will be something along similar lines, historical fiction perhaps. A "what if?" the Romans had survived into the 21st century, a bit like Harris' "Fatherland"? OK, so not modelled on Civ, but it would get my vote, just like the fantasy author who actually bothered to try and imagine what bird-men would sound like if they had beaks to speak with instead of mouths (the Ravnica series from the line of Magic: The Gathering fanfic).

Keep it coming as much as possible.

It is Genghis. I was hoping for some poetical waxing about Kublai. Sadly, there will be none.

Will this book end with an epic field encounter or will Genghis just cower behind some city walls?

Well, I have a bunch of different ideas rather than a shortage of them, and that's the problem: I need to pick one and commit to it.

Since when has Genghis ever "cowered"? I don't think there's a word for that in the Mongolian language... ;)

I was waiting for the final chapter to read through all of them at once...
But the waiting was too much, and I had to read the last two parts.

Thanks for the update.

HOLY FLYING BATMONKEYS, it's not just one but TWO updates!

... OK, a bit late but I've been without a computer for two weeks.

Anyway, good stuff. Bring on the next update!

Hey Sis, can you give us some sort of indication of when the next post is coming as you did last time, so that was I'm not visiting this thread every day in anticipation, only to have my hopes dashed against the rocks...yet again?

If you could, that'd be great!

I'm sure there is: one must brag about fallen enemies, after all.

"What is best in life?" "To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women".

The final chapter of Scipio's Spy will be posted this weekend.

After that, I'm not sure. I actually need to go back and play the game beyond that point! It'll feel weird playing vanilla and prince level again. I'm sure something will inspire me, though.

Yay

On another note, this may seem like a completely random question but I just started reading two weeks ago so here it is: Isn't Romulas supposed to kill Remus or did you change that part to fit the story just like most of the other legends here (Like El Sid).

The latter.

The only thing I'm really trying to figure out is whatever happened to Caesar's Heirs? Didn't his step-daughter marry and have children? Or is it that when Caesar "let go of family attachments" that was just code for "author never has to mention them again."

That line, er, died out. Yeah, that's it.:mischief:

C'mon Sis, if you're gonna be an Author, you're gonna have to deal with irrelevant questions like this!

And I can tell you one thing for sure: Fanboys aren't going to be pleased with

That line, er, died out. Yeah, that's it.

An unrequested possible explanation: with Caesar's favor his line expanded to the point that it stopped making sense for him to keep track of everyone: pratically every ethnic Roman, and plenty of the peoples conquered share some of his blood. He just chose at one point to consider every citizen family.
