A) Get the people who do represent them to petition for better representation, B) Support Israel is getting Hamas and Hezbollah to knock of their terrorism, so that all this can end.

I again refer you to Nivi's views on this.

I don't recall saying that all democracies are going to be peaceful. Did I say that? If I did, I wasn't thinking. Not all democracies are going to be peaceful countries - but that doesn't change the fact that Israel is a democratic country, that indeed does want peace, while Palestine wants no such thing. And until they do, they'll get no sympathy from me.

Hawks in both governments don't want peace, if there was peace who would they blame their problems on?

I don't want a significant arab power in the goverment, as long as they are not loyal to Israel, and unfortunatly, right now arabs (not all, druze are cool ) are not loyal to Israel, becuase that is the sentiment in the arab street in Israel. If they start being more loyal to Israel rather then palistine, I would support it.

You should ask yourself why would Palestinians want to be loyal to Israel after all the bad blood. The chicken or the egg?

The problem is that all this bad blood is coming from the establishment of Israel, and it won't go away untill that is gone, and I don't know about you, but I'm not going anywhere.

Beats me! .. that's the first I heard of it. But I am a Brit and do not follow US media religiously. Is this relevant?

Its quite funny that you know everything you need to know about hating Israel, but anything similar to that from other countries, you simply don't care.

No offense intended to Nivi, but why does what he thinks dictate how Israel is run? Just because he has certain views on a subject doesn't mean Israel is actually run that way. I have certain views on how the USA should be run, and they certainly aren't being followed.

Except pretty much everyone in the Palestinian government is, in your terms, a "hawk", or they wouldn't be there. And the "hawks" in the Israeli government are generally people who just want Hamas and Hezbollah to knock it off. If they said "No more fighting or terrorist attacks", and there were no more attacks on Israel, the fighting would stop. Israel wouldn't invade anyone - they'd all be dancing in the streets that no one is trying to kill them all, finally.

Yes, it is. An Iraqi Mirage F1 attacked and severely damaged a US warship but no reprisal was taken by America. This was pre-Desert Storm mind you.

Ok I took a look at the wiki entry but could not see any explaination as to WHY this happened. Was it a mistake or was something more sinister afoot?

As for the USS liberty here are some sources that may interest you..

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/ussliberty.html

http://www.ussliberty.com/

http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig/margolis12.html

The last hyperlink carries this statement which also mentions the USS Stark.

'In contrast to American outrage over North Korea's assault on the intelligence ship 'Pueblo,' Iraq's mistaken missile strike on the USS 'Stark,' last fall's bombing of the USS 'Cole' in Aden, and the recent US-China air incident, the savaging of 'Liberty' was quickly hushed up by President Lyndon Johnson and Defense Secretary Robert McNamara.'

I know there is (or was) a website made by the survivors of the Liberty attack that stated that Isreal knew it was attacking a US ship and strafed crew trying to board lifeboats, in contravention of genava conventions, as if intending that all hands (and witnesses) be lost. But i was unable to find it again with a google search.

In the interest of 'balance' here are some zionist websites that give a different account and/or explanation of the aforementioned events.

www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/liberty.html

peace.heebz.com/ussliberty.html

www.adl.org/Israel/uss.asp

Of course you could just google 'uss liberty' and see what you get...

I don't care much for either of them, they should fight it out once and for all and the winner can have what is left. It's not like there is any way to solve this conflict peacefully anyway.

Actually there is, but nobody would make any money from it so we can forget about it.

Unless we start a big betting market on the outcome... :mischief:

Why isnt their an option for neither?

Palestinian. I think the palestinian deserved more of the land than the Israelis. The creation was wrong in the first place. But since the wrong has been done. We got to live with it now. Palestinian deserved a state.

I just had to vote for the hamsters.

I'm not sure who I support; I think neither of them are deserving of the title of "The Only Good Guys". On a continuum, I'm probably nearer to disapproving more of the Israelis than the Palestinians.

They both can go to hull in handbasket.
I just noticed that ... that's a little harsh, isn't it? What about Slough instead?

I support Israel, but I also support a two state solution. Give the Palestinians the West Bank and Gaza Strip, but there is no way that withdrawl to 1967 borders could ever be possible.

I voted Hamsters. The poll is too simplistic. Vote Israel and you're accused of supporting those who kill civilians, vote Palastine and you're accused of supporting those who kill civilians.

I'd vote for the moderates on each side. The ones who really couldn't give a **** about who has what and they just want to live in safety with their family.

That Hamster looks remarkably like my former Hamster 'Fluffer'. God I miss that little guy :salute:

Can't vote, as I support both, and I won't vote for radioactive monkeys :p
