Put a freeze on new members!!!

However, I can vouch for one new member, human-slaughter, as he is my friend who joined for NESes.

thats good---wait a minute WHO'S vouching for you:rolleyes:

I think his experience vouches for him... its only the youngest posters who are causing trouble, and while that is no reason to stop join ups, it is a reason to strat being a little harder on new guys... till they visabley learn the ropes....

And what do you propose Xen? Forum rules for every other post?:crazyeye: With the 20-30 new members, I think the rate of newbie posts to bad posts is higher as most only join for the search function or whatnot.:p

nope, just more PM warningd to people when they get iffy as a first warning, combined with more mods to patrol more often... such threads could be nipped in the bud immediatley if either the current mods were round more often, or more mods were added to the roster, i dont really care, as long as a person whom has been harasing me latelly in several threads, and all others like him, are put to justice

I think he wants to be made a mod from the sound of it.:D Althrough I will admit something is up in OT, in the entire time I have been around I have rarely if ever seen that many threads closed in the course of a day.

Not necessarily NEWBS. One in particular came here just to talk some smack. A total of 12 posts and all in an anti-American thread he started? Newb or not he came here for one reason.

To a grand total of nine thats right 9 threads were closed today in the OT. Something is up.

There was one thread, I believe the "Celebrity Battle" thread, closed without a reason and not even a single mod post. What happened there?

A lot of members who had never posted before have just posted now because of the Remembrance thread featured on the main page.

i noticed that too, several of these people had only 10-20 posts BUT were registered over a year ago, not exactly newb's

I ran a search on that particular user and he posted four times back in February, then left for 7 months until he started that anti-American thread this morning. So stopping new users from registering won't stop old dormant users like him from causing trouble.

I'd like to add to DoMs statement. My work was made a lot harder yesterday by regualrs joining in what were obviously troll threads.

Report them then leave them alone folk and WE can clean them up. If you add to them then YOU will be liable to be banned too.

Some all-round gaming forums, plagued by spam-bots, have to resort to making visual tests in their registration formulae.

Other forums have manual activation of accounts to avoid DL’s.

But we don’t have it that bad here so these measures aren’t really necessary… yet :satan:

When you freeze new members, will any low temperature do, or do you insist on 32 degrees farenheight?

Thats zero celcius, or aproximately 273 Kelvin. Put another way, are you looking for the freezing point of water at standard atmospheric pressure, or is there some other substance you want to change phase on, from liquid to solid?

Oh Lefty, you love me. Admit it.

My apologies to Col also. Wasn't thinking of your job being made tougher when I posted my poll.
