PW-02 Zombie Nation

I have just tested the sample game generated by Jet and it works just great. There is even Toku inside, and got he's a backward

As soon as we reach consensus on leaders (all female roster? ;)) and settings (map, speed, zombie time), I generate the game using this solution.

r_rolo1, you're right, no need to play Toku-like, it's going to be fun enough without it

Small thing, the turn counter restarts at 0, making the game go beyond 2050 (I think so, haven't checked). We will try to avoid overpassing 2050 AD anyway. Diplo victory with Toku ? :D

Or Isabella, could be interesting starting as that isolationist angry religious fanatic. :groucho:

On a completely OT issue: TLO , good to know that Poland is in Euro 2008... maybe we can repeat the score of the last Portugal-Poland in international competitions... *runs away from furious nationalistic Pole*

you mean the 2-2 in our last match? :P

Really i don't care which leader it is. But having Toku and then taking over is murder...

I'll let you guys decide. but if it comes down to me, IMO i like the idea of Izzy.

^^No , I meant the last official game in a international competition ( not in qualifiers )... Korea-Japan World cup, 2002 : Portugal 4 - Poland 0  *runs away again from furious nationalistic Pole*

And on topic, I like the idea of Toku's angels ;)

Oh God, all those off-topic issues

Football fanatics = zombie nation, maybe it's not off topic  (I'm myself a fan so autocriticism too ;))

Anyway, we have a shot between Izzy and Toku.

If you like the AI selection, I will start the zombie part tomorrow - after 150 turns we will select between both games. Alright with everyone ? You're pretty right, with Izzy we are sure to have some more useful traits, a nice UU and almost a certain shrine. Toku = lot of junk units, too late for the UU and, depending on some chance factors, few or many cities.

Still, I prefer the Toku's harem idea - Izzy and his harem won't work.
Maybe a 'Izzy and the Pretenders' version, starring Toku, Pericles, Rossy, Augustus and Peter ?

Back in a few hours :scan:

What are we doing here ?

I just wanted to start a new game, and here I am, 150 turns inside some lame civilization I don't know ?

God, are they backwards ? Who were the rulers ?

In hindsight, I think they must have been shot 20 years ago for their 'brilliant' management. A little bit too late, methinks...

Now, we have to clean their mess.

Up we go!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Never let your own destiny between AI hands

Following all the steps provided by Conroe and Jet ( to both of you), I fired this world :

As the 'to die early' civilization, I selected Shaka. I just couldn't resist at the idea of Shaka reincarnated in a lion :D. Btw, I attached the pre-worldbuilder save, starring Shaka Lio on a small island

And so it began.
Worldbuilded, saved asap, exited asap too (I resisted to the temptation of lurking on the opposition), back in the scenario menu.

Now, two paths are open (vote!!!).

1. Meet Toku

Toku is one of the finest and most colorfoul characters in this game, amazing most players with his 'Open what? With you? Hahaha!' or 'Ho, ho, ho, I have pikeman' when you come by with a rifle ;)

Toku's traits are, well, quite lame. Aggr/Prot - we will head for the stars for sure :) His UU is just several turns from being an antiquity, and his UB, well we will be happy to be alive by the time it comes. Anyway, it's lame like hell too - cheap Coal Plants.

It will be a hard recovery mission.
Lets see what disaster he managed to create :

Spoiler :

All in all, it could have been worse (hardly, but it could).

Take a look into his capital:

Spoiler :

What else could you expect from Toku.

My thoughts, given the land and the capital :

Spoiler :

It will be a hard game. We have a powerful army of almost old-timers.
Growing the capital is a must. Toku has managed a nice prod, but the city is, well small. Eco su**s a little bit.
Techs aren't that bad - same level as Izzie.
Still, I see the light out of this hole. We just have to stop being Toku.

2. Meet Izzie

Izzie means Buddhism! Even the less experienced players know it, with Izzie no way not to find God in the early caverns! Izzie means 'Get to our religion or beware!', it means 'I urge you to convert' with her 'could-have-been-lovely' face of hers.

Izzie's Spain is a mid-gamer civ. Conquistadors are a fine version of Cuirassiers which is basically our best option to get out of her hole (sorry, it wasn't meant to sound like this ). Citadel is a can-be-nice building, highly powering the siege weapons produced, making very very very nice Trebs.
Spir/Exp can be handy too.

This recovery will be hard too, methinks.

Take a look at this, hmm, 'huge' empire:

Spoiler :

And now, Madrid :

Spoiler :

This one I knew before opening the game

My thoughts on this one

Spoiler :

Nice eco, but a tiny empire. Common religions saves her from being eaten, but she will not be safe eternally. There is a hope too, playing on the diplomacy and religion (we would play Izzie, no?) and beeling for Conquistadors for more breathing room... Still, her geographic situation is bad and expansion was even worse.

Time to discuss all these choices.
What's wonderful is the fact that both have the same score! I couldn't have dreamed of a better situation.
They both sucked in comparison to other AIs, which should make our game fun!

I attach both saves, plus the pre-WB working save (for the Shaka-lio on the island, remember).

Votes are open. Closing time, well, no closing time.
Don't expect me to wait too long before starting real fun.

As I created the zombie file, r_rolo1 will be up for the first 10.
I'll play after the roster.

I'm for Toku as well. Will be more interesting I think.
As for the gameplan, an interesting idea would be to try and generate a great merchant somehow, and use the cash bomb to mass upgrade those obsolete units to samurais.

Toku - Izzie 3:0 as for now.

Waiting for DM and TLO to give their votes, as for me both games can be real fun :)

Here is the starting Röstie:

Roster:
1. pawelo - just created this all mess
2. r_rolo1 - UP to get the water and the cleaning devices as soon as votes are finished
3. azaris - on deck to start sweeping the floor
4. Darth Meanie
5. Betruger
6. TheLastOne36

lurker's comment: Try modifying the WB file to reduce the "maxturns" line by the 100/150 turns that you auto-played.

Seems that, even if my vote is double (;)) and DM hasn't voted yet, Toku is in.
Edit : cross-post :)

Btw, I would vote Toku as well.
Toku is selected :)

As spoiler, when building the Izzie save, on the 1st turn Toku DoWed Lizzie.

I propose we check on this disaster and advise our first volunteer (designed volunteer ), though we already seem to have a common point of view

There is a nice stack in Osaka, mainly cats, it's on the screenie. Aside from this, Kyoto has a potential to throw units fast and has already one GG merged as instructor.

Buildup and DoW Izzy ? :)

r_rolo1, you're up for 10!

Let the real stuff kick in! :whipped:

Pawelo, have you already changed the WB file like Conroe suggested?

I won't play in 24 h ( ATM I'm generating the LHC map for tomorrow ), so feel free to toss suggestions.... IMHO we should use our obsolete military againg Izzy ASAP, while cleaning the mess that toku made ( diplo will be a pain, I assume... )

Here is the starting, conroe WB save.

Playing this set makes me wonder that we have to try a SG with a AI in the roster, and try to correct his :smoke: moves ( it would be fun  ).

Let's start the test book of " How to be a stupid AI":

- 2 OBs

- Cities cramped ( this is of of the times when I ask myself why can't we raze our own cities .... ). That city south of our capitol is simply a waste of a hill

- 50% maintenance and buiding 2 settlers and one ready to disembark in a far away island, without CoL

- Researched HBR ( why, for the heavens sake? )

- Settle city with a mountain ridge between it and his main source of food.

- Big and outdated army, without CR promo, except on the catapults

- Competely weedy build order:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0041.jpg

But we must reckon that Toku made a far better job than Izzy ;)

Oh well, lets start the cleaning.... First let's be a gentleman....

Civ4ScreenShot0043.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0044.jpg

AKA stop being Toku

After changing queues and MM and calling back home the troops and that settling party ( we'll not need more cities for a while ), I decided to use our army against Izzy before it goes obsolete:
Spoiler :
War.jpg

This was the oposition:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0046.jpg

Not bad....

And then the crazyest stuff happened: the religions started to pop up, in spite of some simply were too far away in tech turns ( izzy founded Islam in our target city, in spite of not having Theo.... ) I think that the game assumed that our start was a advanced one and started the distribution of religions.

Oh well, after some turns bombarding and after the sacrifice of a lot of units, we got our city:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0047.jpg

Nothing useful in the inside....

We got a nice GG out of this. In spite of IMHO settling a GG is normally the best move, I decided that in this case it was better to attach it to a city raiding unit.... We'll need some more breathing space, even after killing Izzy and this game will be a bloodbath ( we have Boudica and Cathy.... we'll not be aloowed to rest most surely ). A city cracking unit fits well in that scenario.
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0048.jpg

The rest of the turns were spent healing the troops. Recent scouting of Spain's lands ( turn 9 of my turnset ) revealed that Izzy has 2 archers, 1 cat and a galley in capitol and 2 archers in Barcelona. We only need more siege to clean this ( most of our siege equipement was used in the Islam holy city )....

Small regards

We need to keep a eye in Boudica... Agg/Char LH with Monty complex ,more advanced than us and with GW may mean a royal pain in the @ss. ATM she's busy with Lizzy, but that will not last and we have a nice border demerit with her. Cathy needs a eye too, but her and Hatty are quite upset with each other.....
Our finances need Madrid. Capture it ASAP, please .....
