PW-02 Zombie Nation

Inherited turn: Whipped some, drafted some, made this deal with cathy.

I'm not sure what to do with scientist, we don't have any good commerce city. In our top research city academy would bring additional ~13 beakers. True, it'll do that till the end of the game and it'll be more later, but we can always build that later with another GS. I feel this GS would be best spent to bulb chemistry for ~1800 beakers. Academy would have to work for 100 turns to bring that many, and during those 100 turns we surely will get another GS, that is if the game will not be over by then :p
So anyway, I left him in city for now, let the group decide.

turn 1:
Preparing for next egyptian war.

turn 3:
I declare on Hatty. I've split the main stack in 2, one advancing south, the other advancing west, then north.

IBT:
got some really bad dice rolls, 2 jumbos die to knights at 30%, also our medic spearmen perishes :(

turn 5: Pi-Ramses and Elephantine is ours. Again some bad dice rolls, lost 2 samurais at 70% odds.

turn 6: Military tradition is in. I go for replacable parts next (10 turns), Cathy will research representation in 7 turns so we should be able to make that trade (representation for rep. parts)

Adopting representation + mercantilism is really plausible option. Cathy is in mercantilism so we only have trade routes with Boudica, and we have plenty of food everywhere to hire rep. boosted specialists.

turn 7: This happens.

Hatty is screwed, I voted no, but I have a feeling the resolution will pass. Gotta make haste with that war.

turn 8: Ha! I was wrong. Resolution fails. Boudica voted yes, Cathy voted no.
So we have all egypt for ourselves :)

turn 9: We capture Heliopolis and Memphis at the cost of 3 catapults.

turn 10: It appears that Cathy has traded some techs to Boudica for representation, and now both Cathy and Boudica have representation for trade.
However we don't have anything to trade for it yet. Lightbulbing chemistry might be the best choice here.

I use conquest money to upgrade 4 jumbos to cuirasiers.
Our troops are healing in Memphis ready to take what's left of egypt.
Don't wait until all of them are healed. Half of that stack will suffice to take egypt remaining cities.

Keep in mind that merc + rep civic switch, it should be good.

Here's shot of our new land:

WARNING! There's a GREAT SCIENTIST fortified in MADRID. Sorry about that, complelty forgot to unfortify him.

Good one... we don't need more of hatty's land by now. Now need to start worrying with Cathy. She's researching RP and it is clearly on the path of her UU.... we need to regroup and try to isolate her ( it will not be easy.... she loves boudica and Boudica lover her as well )

About the GS: we have the option of making a academy or a GA... not sure of what is best.

We don't need more land from hatty. I say make peace. Get Cathy to declare on hatty to keep her busy while we declare on boudica and take her cities.

We don't have the option of using GS to start golden age, somebody has done that already before. We also have option of bulbing chemistry, switching to rep + merc and watch our research skyrocket.
War vs Boudica is risky at the moment, I'd attack her later, with drafted rifles.

What do you mean we don't need more land from Hatty? More land = good :)
We can take it at ease, she's got very thin defences.
Seriously.
Take her 2 inland cities and let her capitulate to us, sparing us the effort of build galleys to take that island city,

I'd agree with Betruger. Beat her while she's lying on the ground

@r_rolo : what's this stuff about loving between boudi and Cathy :D

Tlo, can you take it ?

DM is away, I'll be on deck.
With this no-civ week-end, I'm to be up in three games on monday :crazyeye:

At last, I could get to the game and play a little bit.

What to report ? Well, the game progressed quite well, though we will have hard time with this Cathy-Boudi cartel.

Yep, on pre-turn I noticed they have DP together...
And Cathy was researching Rep Parts as well - the plan to trade her Rep Parts for Constitution would fail.

The plan was then to finish off Hatty and vassalize her, once she's on the island.

On turn 93, I attacked Byblos. First, two caths suicided to protect the cuirasses, then the city was ours with no further losses.
I decided to keep it - if we can win the culture war with Cathy, it will be a nice patch of land between our Egypt and Giza to the north.

I whipped the Globe in Barca in turn 95. Now it's size 6... We will have to wait a little bit for it to regrow before heavy drafting.

Rep Parts checked in, I started Rifles.

Cathy pops up to exchange silver for fur, why not ?

Giza is ours in turn 97, with three cats suicided and no other losses.

As soon as this was done, I vassalized Hatty. At first I was a little bit too demanding :

But she agreed once DR was left aside.

And we finally met the Lio-Shaka

IBT
Lizzie drops by and wants MT from us.
No way, my words are, but I notice she wants to trade for Consitution.
Hell with the 'you traded with our worst enemy' - trade for it asap.

Turn 98 - revolting to Representation and Mercantilism, which hurts our eco due to the TR cut-off.

I leave the next player with the task to MM the new situation.
Don't forget it, we have a free GP everywhere, and Rep is in :)

Part of our troops are moving back through Russia, in expectation of the future celt-jap war.

This is going to be hard - Boudi researches Mil Science and Cathy almost has Rifles... May I suggest beelining for the Infantry... ?

I hope you have brilliant ideas of how to manage our situation.

On the other hand, we have a Great Sci in Madrid and a Great Proph in Thebes. We can fire a GA anytime if the group agrees.

Egypt, nowadays:

Pretty bad culture methinks... Will have to work on it!

TLO, you're up!

This is not looking good... he managed to isolate ourselfs as toku ;) . The war with the 2 ladies would be really hard, and probably we'll need to face them even if we don't want to ( Cathy is not exactly trustable in that regard ). So maybe beelining to Assembly line would be sound, even if we just want to go space....

Assembly line seems good.
Rifles were a nice plan, but Cathy & Boudi are too nice with each other and the former has a great research...
Still, I think we can make it out of this hole.
I would fire both GP we have to do bananas within a GA.

Still, I think we can make it out of this hole.

Seems to me we already did. We've got enough land to win comfortably via spacerace, though it'd be tedious.
Only danger is Boudica declaring war on us, but we're protective, we have tech parity and we have an army similar in size to hers.

Golden Age seems like a good move to consolidate and gain a tech edge.

I think that we have two big options here: turtle to space or smash the ladies... Normally I would prefer space, but in this scenario I doubt that Cathy would let us go to space peacefully.... :( ATM I would say to beeline to infantry and then see if it is feasible a tour de force against them, not forgetting that cathy can attack at any moment ( Se vis pacem , para bellum ... The good ol'Romans had a point in there )

Cathy will NOT attack us for sure. She's friendly! Only Boudica poses a threat.

Cathy will NOT attack us for sure. She's friendly! Only Boudica poses a threat.

cathy is the only AI in the game that can backstab us a friendly :(

TLO is right, Betruger... Cathy can backstab at Friendly. Never trust a woman in a uniform .... ( atleast in Civ IV ;) )

More seriously, I think that in our current situation Cathy is more prone to dow us than Boudica... Cathy is pushy, loves to backstab and doesn't have permanent friends... even worse, we have a nice border demerit with her because of that ragged border in ex-egypt. Boudica is more trustwhorty if you gain her trust.... IMHO she is a far better friend than Cathy

i don't see a point in her attacking us though. What would she gain out of it? i think the possibility of conquest/dominition victory for Cathy, Boudica and us is over. Maybe the best option is to go for space...

Let's have a group vote:
Space Victory:
1 Vote (me)

Military Victory:
0 votes

Other Victory:

0 Votes

Wait a bit to decide:

0 votes.

Let the voting began :p

Space, but wait a bit to decide ( if we get to infantry soon enogh to take advantage of it don't look behind  )

About this:
i don't see a point in her attacking us though. What would she gain out of it?
Some reasons for cathy DoW us:

1- She's out of space
2- We're human
3- She has her UU online
4- We have a vassal that she hates
5 - We have her territory cut in half by her and a lot of cities with relatively low defenses in the west
6 - She's a backstabber in her heart... she can't resist it for long
7- She's a stupid AI

Religious win for me :p

Seriously, I am for space but would still beeline assembly line and make sure our border is impenetrable. Boudi's SoD isn't that impressive (she has it in Biberacte - you can check it in the save), so I would focus on drafting for Cathy's border as well as upgrading to rifle our highly promoted samurais & swords.

As for the reasons, r_rolo1 is right especially for the 4th. I already had JC stab me at Friendly, just because he disliked my vassal.
