Python Performance and Interface Overhaul (PPIO)

I suppose it could be set then reloaded like many core options, including any other graphic setting adjustments.
I won't be writing the python code that is needed to modify the .thm file anytime soon, also I don't know if there is a way to tell the exe to reload its font definitions perhaps game restart would be needed for such an option to take effect.

i even tried 1280X and its too small "for me",, sorry. . . .
Ok, here are some comparison screenshots between vanilla 1024x768 and PPIO at three different resolutions.

View the images in fullscreen.
Trick: open two images that you want to compare, make one of them display in fullscreen, click alt+tab to select the other image and make it fullscreen too, then you can alt+tab between two fullscreen images and get a good comparison environment.

Tell me what you would like bigger in the PPIO examples.
I could add BUG options for size or plain make it bigger for all if I agree that it may be to small in general.

Edit: {
PPIO v0.5.9.6.8.7.2 ▬ Hotfix

SVN rev.10276
  • Fixed a recent bug that made it impossible to switch away from the property tab to any of the resource tabs within the city screen.

C2C with PPIO 1280x720 looks the best of the PPIO ones .. absolutely dont like the 1920X ones.waaaay too small for me, sorry . . . .

1 thing i dont like is that the writing for info on them has back background on them rather than being invisible, i like it invis, sorry . .

the base on ur pics look stretched whereas on the "base" ones,,,in my screenies do not for some reason??

Yep, somehow pics (supposedly to be 1024x768 and 1280x720) are 1920x1080.
Just that fonts were scaled.

I guess Toffer has actually use full screen or change his monitor resolution to get other resolutions.

It's not invisible, it's transparent. Surely that's not hard to adjust is it Toffer?

I opened the screenshots in photoshop and stretched them to be equal size with the 1920x1080 screenshot to simulate what happens when you play the game in fullscreen mode on lower resolutions.

It is equivalent to what technically happens when you play on lower resolutions in fullscreen mode on a screen that can have higher resolutions.
If you set your graphics driver to "maintain aspect ratio", an option, then you get black bars on the left and right side of the screen when playing a 4:3 resolution on a 16:9 screen because the game won't stretch it more horizontally than what it has already stretched it vertically.

Are you and SO talking about the tooltip panel?

Are you playing the game in windowed mode? can you see your desktop on the right and left side of the game display?

Yes, help hovers. At least, that's what I think he's saying. I'm not making any personal commentary since I can't see those zipped files at work.

Since your desktop resolution is at 1024x768 all the pictures I posted are stretched on your monitor and those screenshots that I stretched from 4:3 to 16:9 size (the ones at 1024x768) will be double stretched on your computer screen.

PPIO v0.5.9.6.8.8
SVN rev.10287
  • Took advantage of the dll change TB made in SVN rev. 10280.
    • Settler increase population of new cities by 1
    • Colonist increase population of new cities by 2
    • Pioneer increase population of new cities by 4
    • Air settler increase population of new cities by 7
    • I didn't include the space settlers in the code.
    • Starting food of cities is now a calculation based on how many extra population points it start out with:
      • iExtraPop * 13 * self.fGrowthPrcntGS
    • If playing with the one tile city founding option a single extra population point or more will increase the culture level by 1
    • without the option, 3 or more extra population points is the threshold for increasing the cultural level; meaning Colonist + "Great Bath of muj... erm, whatever" or a pioneer will increase starting culture by one level.
    • regardless of the option: air settler will always increase the starting culture by two levels.
    • Improved the tribal guardian code performance a bit.
  • PPIO now requires SVN rev. 10280
PPIO v0.5.9.6.9
SVN rev.10287
  • Reverted back to original font, Linux Libertine font is no longer required since Sylfaen is now used again.
  • Tweaked some text positioning and coloration, dark green text was hard to read on blue backgrounds changed it to brighter greens instead.
PPIO v0.5.9.7
SVN rev.10287
  • Migrated the interface modifications from the modmod "My Take on Stuff", it's been there for almost 2 years now, and I realized now that it belongs in PPIO, not in MToS. PPIO didn't exist when I made those modifications.
    • Unit flags are bigger and scale up more when zooming out.
    • Tweaked camera behavior.
  • Made the plot help tooltip background much more transparent, tweaked the background of regular tooltips a bit too.
  • Some technical code optimizations and cleanup.

Looks like this tooltip is now too transparent.
Also how to move its scrollbar?
Have you seen the original transparency recently? SO wanted it more like the original.

It appears original was slightly less transparent (bottom) than what is now in modmod (top).

I can't reproduce it, either you didn't install the modmod correctly or I must have forgotten to include a file or something.
The tooltip in your screenshot is more transparent than in my games, yours also have alternating lines which it shouldn't have either.

Edit: I checked the three plot help relevant files, and I included latest version for all of them, I think you didn't install the updated resource folder files...
This one was changed in latest update: C2CTheme_Custom.thm
Do a clean install...

Three pics below shows how the tooltip and plot help should look like in the latest PPIO version.

I did clean reinstall of modmod lets see if it now works like it should.

Nope still its displayed like I posted above.
I play in windowed mode on 1280x972 (not 1024 to prevent random font stretching).

Apparently I overwrote THM files with older version in my backup (for my own font size set), now it works properly.

I'm disliking changes in 0.5.9.7, too many (and bigger) flags on map are confusing me, smaller units I don't like also, and transparent tooltip make it harder to read when more text is behind (inside pedia for example).

Sorry Toffer, I really appreciate (and use!) the work yo are doing with this modmod, I just want to give my feedback even if it's a negative one (may be subjective too of course).

I agree with Fermongu on the flags, they are way too large. The transparency is alright, I don't feel either wick way about it. I also agree with Fermongu that this a great modmod, keep up the wonderful work.

I also wished to mention I love the switching of the colors to signify the end of the turn.

I'll make the flags scale a bit less up when zooming out. Smaller units, right I forgot that was part of the change I brought in from MToS in the latest version, I'll reevaluate the size of them too.
The size of the flags are ok when zoomed far in, right?

PPIO v0.5.9.7.1
SVN rev.10287
  • Reduced the max size of the unit flags.
  • Tweaked placement and size of unit health bar and city bar
  • Tweaked misc camera settings
  • Minor tweaks to unit size scaling based on camera zoom level.
    • A bit bigger unit size on higher zooms than in the last version of PPIO.

I don't think it's noticeably more transparent now than before v0.5.9.7. Do you want it completely opaque?

I appreciate all feedback. ^^

P.S. First impressions can be misleading. Try to get used to changes before giving feedback, what you initially dislike, you may grow to appreciate over time.

One of the reasons I love this modmod so much is how you respond to comments/feedback. Also it makes the game incredibly easier for handicapped players, I have an illness that leaves me bedridden most days and decreases my dexterity, so I play anywhere from 3-10 hours of this game a day.
