Questions about The BUG Mod

So just copy the .ini from the bat 1.1 mod?

No need for any INI. Let the game produce one for you. Let me know how this option works out for you, because we maybe switching things over so BUG won't be included with BAT any longer, to make it easier for releases.

I've got a problem with BUG 3.6 mod. The Reseach advisor screen crashed (displayed only some tech and can't select tech to research) The interface is gone and I can't build anything in the city. It's probably the same problem as in this thread.

I tried the solution in the thread but the problem still persists.
Here is the PythonErr.log

My bad. I thought my Civ was 3.17 but actually when I installed the patch, it was applied to another different directory instead. (I was having some problem about the registry keys.)

Now that I've copied the 3.17 files into the Civ folder, everything works just fine :goodjob:

Is there a way to get the number of your Villages and Towns? I thought I saw that somewhere.

The idea was to include that in a column in the statistics screen (where you see how long you've been playing, the # of units built/killed/current). I think that has been added but not 100% sure.

Yeah, I found them - they're there. I don't see Villages however, just Towns. Is there a reason that Villages and Hamlets aren't displayed?

Just installed BAT/BUG for the first time - put it in the MODS folder. Started the mod, picked the map generator (crazy number of question). And have started my first game. I read over a bit about the mod but don't know how to enable / change features. I read in one thread to use CTRL-ALT-O to change settings but that doesn't seem to do anything for me. Is there some sort of control panel? How to I access it? Thanks.

@Oddible - What version of BAT did you install? Also, BAT includes BUG, so did you install BUG as well as BAT? This might cause problems. See the FAQ for details.

CTRL + ALT + O should bring up an options screen that looks very similar to the normal CTRL + O Civ4 options screen.

Hmm. I'm using BTS 3.17. I'm using BAT Mod 1.2 (which includes a folder called 'BUG Mod' which in turn contains a folder Mods\BAT Mod 1.2). I extracted the BAT Mod 1.2 folder into my MODS folder. I go to the opening menu and select Advanced > Load a Mod and choose BAT Mod 1.2 from the list. I've just tried it again with another new game this time selecting the Tectonics world generator and I still get no CTRL-ALT-O menu.

Incedentally, I just re-downloaded ONLY the Bug Mod exe. Ran the install, selected Single Player and it doesn't show up in my Mods list. However, when I run BUG from the Start Menu icon it DOES work and I DO get a CTRL-ALT-O menu. So now I'm trying to figure out how to get BAT working.

The single-player install method for BUG means that BUG is not installed as a mod. It is always running unless you are running a mod.

BAT should have had an EXE installer that puts all the files in the right place. I don't know why you would have this structure:

Code:
Mods
  BAT Mod 1.2
BUG Mod <-- okay, this should hold a bunch of TXT, INI and CHM files
Mods <-- this should not be here
BAT Mod 1.2 <-- neither should this

I suggest deleting the BAT Mod 1.2 folder and reinstalling it using the EXE installer.

I think you should repack the rar file so it just has BAT Mod 1.2 folder and not the others. Unless there are changes in the BUG Mod folder.

Ok, as soon as I start a game, the technology adviser pops up, but it only shows the religion techs, and nothing else.

Also, the scoreboard doesn't show up. i have tried clicking the button that usually controls the scoreboard, but it just doesn't show. finally, the Info screen doesn't work.

How do I fix this???

EDIT: So I uninstalled it because, honestly, its terrible. And all the errors are still there. The score doesn't show, and the Tech adviser is screwed up.

BUG requires version 3.13 or 3.17 of BTS. From the main menu, click ADVANCED and ABOUT THIS BUILD. You will probably see 300 or 303 for Civ4 version. Get the free patch, and try again.

I think you should have read the directions, and wouldn't have had this problem. If we do it your way, we will get alot more complaints. Follow the directions, copy the files to the correct place, and all of your problems will go away.

Hey,

I have a very basic set-up. The ONLY things I have installed are BTS, latest patch (3.17), BUGS latest version, Blue Marble latest version (installed both 3 days ago) and I also HAD BATS 1.2 installed (but not loaded), but then uninstalled it as I realized it shouldn't be installed with BUGS.

Now, I really, really like BUGS. The whip assistant especially, but also the micromanagement reminders about Town growth have really helped my play.

Now, on to the rather odd problems... several basic graphics have "disappeared". Notably:
- all instances of "health", "happy face", "culture", "beakers", "gold" have disappeared from the game. It applies to messages on quest rewards and to the city screen... so I only see "plus" and "minus" values to denote e.g. effects of buildings, resources etc.
- all religious symbols are gone except in the leader conversations and on the map... so I can see a city's religion(s) on the map and I can see the state religion of a leader when in conversation with the leader... but there are no notes of religions on the diplo screen or on the lower right hand corner scoreboard which makes it a . .. .. .. .. . to follow who's what
- The domestic advisor is empty no matter what settings I use in the alt-ctrl-O interface

This particular set of issues I haven't seen in the thread before. Not sure whether there is an easy solution (problem with blue marble?). Grateful for explicit advice... I am a complete noob on computers when it comes to programming etc. :p

Did you install BUG using the EXE installer or using our SVN code repository? Did this happen as soon as you installed BUG? With certain foreign operating systems, this happens one and is solved by reinstalling, but I want to make sure that's the problem first.

If you are using our code repository, it's possible you need to update again.

I used the exe installer. I used to play on 3.0. Then I updated to the 3.17 patch and installed BUGS + Blue Marble. After this, these problems occured.

Playing on VISTA
