Questions & Answers

Hi guys, could you please tell me if there are some continent production continent modifiers? I think there was something like that, but i can't find it in source code anywhere. I will appreciate any help, thanks.

Does anyone else have the problem that tech costs in hotseat mode start expensive and spiral ever out of control? It seems to make it unplayable. Is there a fix for this?

Simple question: what's the best civilization from early start (specialty Wonders building), i just can't decide...
Babylon (too crowded, but have required resources stone + marble)
China (great cities, marble; but stone is too far away, and the city will eventually flip to Khmers)
Egypt (required resources, but not very good cities, and too crowded too)
India (some good cities, but not required resources; maybe conquest Babylon?)
Thanks for any suggestions.

You are probably right, but i always miss first one or two wonders (because of the stone; e.g. Pyramids or Stonehage).
Maybe better approach would be Babylon (because of the location in middle egypt and india), build some army, destroy wonder builders, or block their resources... but i'm afraid it's too unstable region.
Thanks for your hint.

I would say Egypt is the best initially, Babylon is good if you conquer some enemy/indy cities to help defend you later, and China is best in the long run. India has little production so conquering Babylon would be a good idea. I always build stonehenge with every starter civ as it is my favourite wonder, with the Chinese or Indians it just takes a bit longer, less if you chop though.

I also have a question about partisans emerging from razed cities, I always thought this happened after a certain tech or something, but now im not so sure. Does anyone know what starts to trigger it?

ah so its emancipation that triggers it? So if just before you go razing you could use a spy to change the enemy out of emancipation and raze freely?

Just wanna say the China is really great, after few tries i had it all :) (On viceroy for start.) However it's very enjoyable civilization. The major changellenge is to get started really fast (i usually played later start); and then of course utilize your land, which is half great forrest/sea/hills/rivers, and half jungle/mountain/desert madness, but it's definitivelly playable. On viceroy it's however supersimple, i had Assembly plant before 1500, both corporations before 1600. I almost missed the last milestone, because i forgot to switch, but factories/nationalism/universal/golden age sufferage combo can easily produce over 10 units in one round easily :) I think i may just found my favorite civilization :)

Nevermind :)

I have another question - i would like to get some good idea about AI in Civ IV and Rhye's. Could somebody tell me where to get started? Thanks in advance.

The thinking behind this is, improve AI to go after the UHV milestones; i believe some optimizations could be done simply (like war this, war that, or build this, build that).

Could be fun :)

I want to include a system of Dynamic Civ Names similar to RFC's in my mod. What Python files will I need to change?
