It works just like a normal attack. So a catapult has the same chance of hitting as a Knight. All the same defense bonuses apply, too.

We know that captured workers are free maintained (when demo and repub). But what happens if I get workers of other nationalities not by capturing them?
For example if I bought them from an AI or if I captured an AI's city and built worker there - it will be of that AI's nationality. Shall I have to pay for this kind of worker 1 coin per turn?

Another question, related to the first one. If I recapture a worker of MY nationality, shall I have to pay for him 1 coin per turn?

slave is slave. And your people are your people. Whatever happenes!

If I am at war with country A because they attacked me and I get an alliance with country B to fight against country A, do I need to wait 20 turns for the deal to expire to avoid a rep hit if I make peace with country A before country B does? Also do I have to make any attacks or send troops into country A's territory to avoid a rep hit?

If I join a captured worker in a city and then "get out my whip", does the captured worker die or does the native citizen die, or is it random?

In my expirience: the native dies. That is: your citizens die first, usually

Yes, you must wait.
I think there is an exception to this rule (someone correct me if I'm wrong:)). If country B makes peace with country A before the 20 turn alliance deal is up then this effectively breaks the deal. You are then free to make peace with country A as the deal is no longer in effect.

Dianthus, if the AI breaks the alliance it obviously doesn't exist anymore! How can one break a treat that isn#t in effect anymore?

Where I can learn more about propaganda (one of the spy missions to get enemy cities in a peceful way). Maybe there is some great research on propaganda like on corruption by Alexman, AI attitude by Bamspeedy and Aggie's ontech stealing?

If there is no special research or discussion just tell please what should be best condition for best propaganda results.

Hi,

How do I make war without losing my ability to do gold-per-turn deals?

This is my first question, hope I did it right.

Thanks.

Welcome to CFC! You're doin' fine! :D

Making war is easy. Make sure you don't break any deals, and when you declare war, don't do it inside that countries borders. And if they say 'Move out or declare war' let them kick you out, then declare war. This will save a rep hit.

I'm sure I'm missing some here, but that's the gist of it. Hang around a few minutes, and someone else will fill in what I"ve missed.

Here's one : Don't make war when you've got a turn based deal going with the target civ, wait for the deal to expire first.

[Edit] Oops :o, Turner covered that but my "reading" didn't work too well!

Thanks. I think it must have been having units in the enemy borders when declaring war that has got me. I guess you always want to declare war in the diplomacy screen rather than on the battle field.

Wow, after that quick reply, I shall try my luck with another question. Does gold that is going to scientific reaserch go "through" the commercial improvements? Ie. if you have 100% reaserch, does a market place make any difference?

If not, did it used to (in civ <mumble mumble> 1) or have I been deluding myself all these years?

Thanks a lot,

No. If you have 100% research then only Libraries/Universities/Research Labs make a difference. Market Places/Banks/Stock Exchanges only apply to the 100%-(Research%+Lux%).

No idea, Civ III is my 1st experience of Civ!

I know that if you capture a Great wonder you do not get its culture, but if An AI capture one of your great wonders, then you capture it back, do you still get culture on it?
