Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

I have a not very "mainstream" question: how does demanding of resources implemented in MP, if you are the master and your vassal is another human? Feels like devs didn't think about that so usual repercussions of war against uncooperating vassal are not in effect now. Human vassal can simply exit diplomacy screen when met with demands, and no war will be declared. Looks like a bug to me :dunno:

Sorry i was just wondering if i can play Earth 18 civs scenario with BtS tech tree including aquaculture, cloning and similar future techs? I have Civ IV, Warlords and BtS expansions.... I had original Civ IV Complete and im not sure but i think i played Earth map with full BtS tech tree.... Now i have only Civ IV techs without mentioned future techs like cloning, advanced shielding etc. Any help pls? :)

you're thinking the Next War mod.. this is how you do it:
If you don't already have the mod loaded, go to Advanced on the main menu, then Load a Mod. Then, choose Next War Epic and click Load or okay or whatever it says.

It'll close and reload with the mod, and it'll give you a new main menu. You can play random games, but of course, you want Earth 18civs, so you go Single Player, then Play a Scenario and choose Earth 18 civs. It SHOULD work. So should the Earth 1000 AD if you like that ;)
Happy Playing!

Apply baseball bat directly to the kneecap, always works for me!

A quick question regarding stealing workers from CSs. This may sound stupid and I could easily try it out but I'm currently at work procrastinating and thinking about civ strats!

When you steal a worker from a CS, do they actually have to have a worker? By this I mean, if there isn't one within their borders that can be taken by a warrior/scout, then are you able to move your military to its borders and demand one?

Thank you! :)

I think you're on the wrong forum, this is for Civ IV, not V. However, I believe the answer (in vanilla anyway I didn't like V as much so I didn't buy the expansions) is no, you can't demand one, you have to take a preexsisting one.

I'm not sure what you mean by "CS," but in order for you to capture (ie, steal) a worker, the enemy civilization must have a worker for you to capture. You cannot demand a worker (or any other unit) from another civilization and cannot capture workers from civilizations you are at peace with.

As scouts can't attack, I don't think they can capture workers either.

Unless you're playing Civ V ;) in which case *cough* four is better *cough*

Not off the top of my head but you should be able to do it yourself in the xml... let me check
UPDATE: okay I couldn't find it, but maybe i missed it.. could one of the XML gurus possibly know?

I know that it's possible in Planetfall.

I could have sworn I've seen this option before, but now that I want to use it, I can't find it.

How do I toggle displaying what turn # is on the screen?

For example, up near the year, I've seen pics where people have it saying: Turn 1 - 4000 BC. Mine just says 4000 BC... how can I display the turn number?

for that, my friend, you need the quite excellent BUG mod, which should be easily found on the forum. I would suggest getting the BAT version, as the graphics and civ-specific unit graphics look amazing!

I think that's an option in the BUG mod.

I'm confused. He can't see the turn number and wants to turn it on.
People recommend mods that allow you to not display the turn number.

If he's not using a mod, he doesn't have to toggle it back on because that's the default.
So he must be using a mod. (or there is a way to toggle that no one has mentioned)
So telling him to use BUG is not helping him. Unless he already has it.

As I understood it he saw a screenshot someone else posted and noticed that it had something akin to Turn 23/4000 and didn't realize that what he saw wasn't a standard option.
now, if I'm wrong I sincerely apologize though

I'm old so I could be wrong also. He said

Seeing the turn number and the year is the un-modded standard. At least that's what I see and I have no mods installed.

My guess is he's on Vanilla or Warlords.
