do you live in the capital of your empire?
It decreases unhappiness duration, which is slightly different. I'm not 100% sure (never played as the Aztecs to that point in the game since Warlords), but on initial looks I'd say that it means that if you would have had 10 turns of unhappiness under another leader, you'll get 5 turns of unhappiness with Montezuma in the Sacrificial Alter cities. Two consecutive whips would get 10 turns of unhappiness rather than 20 turns, and so on. That's my impression, anyway.Does the Aztec sacrificial altar decrease unhappiness from drafting?
Really? I always imagined him as being Aggressive and Financial.Yes. I live in the capital of the Minnesotan empire, which is a vassal of the American empire, with the Charismatic and Organized Emperor George W. Bush.

no, worldbuilder test looks like it just thinks of "sacrificing" as sacrificing population, and nationhood drafting is different and lasts as long as it usually would.
Sorry, I misread the question. I thought he was asking about whipping.Kmad is right (happy?)
sacrificial altar only affects slavery unhappiness duration.
It has no effect on drafting (and like lord parkin said, it also doesn't reduce the happiness penalty for whipping, only it's duration)
Hi all, I just got Civ 4 and just beat my first game.
"Diplomatic" (hardly diplomatic when I voted myself inhehe) Victory 2030 Standard Noble. OK I guess I could have done better but I was proud.
Anyhow, I thought that I might try a scenario and I am liking the Middle Ages scenario Earth1000AD.
The question I have is this: when I start out as one of the European countries for example, I notice that out in Scandavia there are Vikings. However, it doesn't seem they are playable, but they are not Barbarians, yet I can't seem to open diplomacy with them. What is going on here?
Can you play in that scenario as the Vikings? Can you negotiate with them? Are they in fact a "civilization" or are they Barbarians? Just what are they?
I do not have the Warlords expansion, just the straight original game.
Thank you!
I don't think your driver's license represents coins or hammers for your empire, so don't expect any multipliers on your wait time.Bureaucracy greatly increases efficiency and productivity? Good to know, then I won't have to schedule very long to get my driver's license renewed tomorrow.

oh right! and what turn is it? if it's late game, and domination/diplomatic victory chances aren't looking good, they may be in the "try to drag things out for a time victory" stage. It depends on what game speed your motor vehicle office is running. New York's offices always run at Marathon speed. I can grow Brennus' beard while waiting in line there.
well i do still very much like quoting those words! but a new standard has been set, a quote i thought i'd never see before 2050:Kmad is right (happy?)
rational!!!!(no offense KMadCandy! You're very rational, compared to most people on here.)
How do I get a mod to work? Specifically, the most recent total realism mod for civ 4, not warlords. When I download it, it doesn't seem to create a folder I can put in the Civ 4 Mods folder - only an application which doesn't work. Thanks!
I can't find any existing threads/guides lying around that might point me in the right direction... this thread is a great idea in that respect - means a lot fewer new threads with inane questions like mine =)
Try asking in the thread that you downloaded the mod from. The guys there will probably be able to help you better than most of us here can.How do I get a mod to work? Regardless, I'm sure we can both agree he's not Philosophical.![]()
Financial? There was a surplus when he took office. I say Imperialistic and Dumb.
