Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

And if you read the posts after that one, you'll also see that the article is severely outdated on the subject of 'average over turns' vs 'average over number of points'. So since BTS, it fully functions like you would intuitively think it would: If you gather 50 prophet GPP, 100 Merchant GPP and 50 scientist GPP during the creation of a 200 GPP's Great Person, then the odds are 50/200 = 25% to create a Great Prophet or Great Scientist and 100/200 = 50% to creat a Great Merchant no matter how you got those great person points. It doesn't matter what great persons you were generating during one turn vs the next or how many 'sources' of great persons were used to do it. The only thing that matters are the total numbers of great person points of each type created in the city during the construction of the great person.

Ooooh,, thank you for that update.

What's the keyboard shortcut to have all your units complete their current orders? I can't find this in the 'pedia.

Ctrl+A

Is there a way to make all units on a tile wait one turn without having to mark them all with Alt+Click since this only select units which can move and screws up any already assigned groups.

Is there a list anywhere with info about all the AI leader personalities, eg who will really hate you if you are a different religion, who will DOW you at pleased etc.

Also, is there a way to predict how long a leader will 'refuse to talk' to you after you DOW them, they DOW you or you stop trading with them?

All that and much, much more (read: too much) can be found in the appropriate XML file. Here's and explanation for the different values and here are the actual values. Hard as hell to find anything though  There are some spreadsheets about this floating around somewhere that are a bit clearer. I usually just play it by memory or check specific values from those links.

I have a quick question. I have an allied persons town surrounded with my culture. The population is 94% mine. The AI wont seem to give up the town. What can I do to get the town to be mine without going to war?

This reference guide might be interesting.

Hmm, I presume the AI has a lot of units stacked in the town, in which case it may not have much (or any) probability of flipping to you. I don't think there's much you can do... except maybe try to bribe them to declare war on someone (or bribe someone else to declare war on them) and hope most of the units stationed in the town leave to fight the enemy.

If they haven't got many units stationed in the town, then it's just a matter of time until it flips if you have 94% of the culture in the city tile. Unfortunately, even then it's still chance though - the town might be yours next turn, or it could still be another 30-40 turns until it's yours. That's why I tend to prefer war myself - always a reliable means of getting exactly what you want, when you want it. :D

I think I read once that by using spy to set the city into revolt 3 times in rapid succession should help. Long time ago, back when I was noob, so I may simply have misunderstood something.
