Does building a city near goodie huts cause the same positive effect as moving scouts on them?

Actually in my limited experience it does. I have built a city near a goody hut twice so far and I received money from one and a map from the other.

It can be especially useful to do this at the beginning f a game as you want your first city built asap and not have to wait for your scout to investigate the hut. (not jabba, the goody hut)

Q. Artillery units (incl Cannon, Catapault etc) can attack individual units and can obviously bombard cities, but can it not also bombard a stack of units? I know it can attack that stack, but the odds always seem to be so low in the favour of the stack - whatever is in the satck, that it has never seemed worth risking it...

i think domination limit is %75.but lots of my game was triggered the domination limit %71 --%73.do i make a mistake?

You can open the victory conditions screen (F8) to see what percentage of territory and population you need for domination victory.

Actually, I don't understand how you know what percentage you're at, if you aren't looking on this screen.

Yes, apparently so. I've done this a few times and never gotten barbarians so far. This would also be consistent with Civ3.

The odds are often very low, but when the artillery does attack it causes collateral damage on the stack that you attack (up to 50% hp loss), which makes it much easier to attack and conquer when you come in with you infantry or tank, so although the artillery will die, they are so cheap that it is worth it.

A lot of people seem to use artillery units as suicide units. They're not supposed to win the fight, but rather weaken the whole stack for other units to clean up (as was already said).

I don't Know if this is the right place  ,but how do you get to XML? And how do you use it? :p

is there a way of abandon/disband a non useful city????
Nope. You can gift it to a civ, declare war on that civ, attack the city, and raze it. Or you can simply remove it with the world builder.

What is really a revolt? I have experienced in cities I conquered that a revolt begins ehre I can't do anything. E.g the Egyptians have started a revolt and then 100% of the population get egyptian

Sorry for double post, but a totally different question:

Is there any difference in attacking as a stack or attack one by one?

A revolt means the city shuts down for the number of turns indicated next to the fist icon. It always happens when a city is captured, and also can happen when a city is under heavy culture pressure (nationality % at less than 50%). There is a danger of the city flipping to the other civ each time a revolt occurs under these circumstances.

As far as I know there are no benefits for attacking as a stack.

No. When you order a stack to attack, the unit with the best chance of winning attacks alone. It's usually better to just choose the units yourself.

Question: Wonder obselescence

Calendar obseletes Stonehenge. Does this mean that Stonehenge becomes obselete when ANY civ discovers calendar or when the civ that built and owns Stonehenge discovers calendar ?

Wonders become obsolete only when the civ that built them researches the technology.

Hi people,

1) I am not seeing any videos, any cool animations that I'd heard were there in Civ 4, like when a city is captured. How do I watch videos of Civ 4?

2) Also in one of the early civs, there used to be these video/animations of foreign/domestic advisors saying stuff like "sire we should build more barracks". I kinda liked seeing the faces/videos of my 'subjects' lol

3)In the original CIV1, at the end of the game they would show the world map and show how much of it you'd conqured, is that feature still there? How to see how much of the world is in my empire?

Thanks!

Is there any way to go back to the FA screen after talking to a leader? Right now I'm going to FA talking to a leader and ending back at the map. So I have to go back to FA to talk or check on the many leaders.

Download the latest patch (1.52).

I haven't done it personally, but there's no reason you couldn't as long all parties have the same mod and mod version.

So I can use an enhanced advisor when everybody else has their version modded too?

I'm not using an enhanced advisor right now, because I'm thinking I can't use it online.
