What is the effect of losing a capital city?
Does it wipe out the research or stops it or no effect?
Does it stop income?
The only effects are corruption will change (although the capital will probably still be in the core, so it won't change much) and the lost production/income of that city.

There's not way to do this in Civ3. You can only have AI civs come back once you kill them if you have Respawn AI option on, and even then, you don't choose when -- it's instantaneous. [sp?]

If you happen to move a settler to where there are luxuries, such as 3 Ivory, on 3 tiles adjacent to each other, is there any added benefit or loss by having your settler build right on top of the luxury? Or is it better to build close to them, but not right on top of said luxury?

thanks

You will gain shield or commerce bonuses given by the resources, but NOT food bonuses (from wines, or a bonus resource). It's actually a good idea to settle on resources if the city is near the front lines, so enemies can't pillage it easy or steal it with culture. You lose the right to improve it with mines/irrigation and roads, but that's only a short loss, so especially if there are more than one of a resource, yes, settle on it.

I load up conquests and my map isn't on the list.

Do I have to beat the 3 intro's and the other 9 conquests before I can even play my own map???

Little help on how to cue up my masterpiece.

Thx,

Hi, just trying to do some modding and have a very quick question.

I want to create just one special flag unit in my mod. It needs to have the following properties:

- Can be captured by any civ
- Victory points for returning the flag to your capital
- The Unit stays in your capital until someone else captures it
- If you lose it and return it back again, you get the points again
- It should not disappear from the game if returned for a second time
- Should be in existence for the entire game
- And ideally it would be good if it accumulated victory points for you while it rests in your capital

So what do I set? In Scenario Properties, under Victory Points Limit, I seem to have only two boxes to check to achieve the above. This is my first real go at modding so any help please?

PS. I posted it here because it's a quick answer post not a discussion for the C&C forums!

When can you make an ROP agreement? Do you just need an embassy or a is it a later tech advance?

Anyone got an answer for me on this please? I've been doing my head in for the last 2 hours - it's driving me mad! Is what I am describing actually possible?

I don't think it is possible. If you want help modding you should post in the C&C forum.

Here's a couple of links:

Goverments
Why is Republic better than Monarchy?
Most useful government

There are more out there, you just need to look for them. And check the Conquests subforum as well, there's a few in there IIRC.

Thanks Turner_727. That was perfect. I'm conviced now that communisn is the best all around Gov for me since I find peaceful games tedious and dull. I went back and loaded some saved games and experimented with other govs and the only that wasn't crippled by corruption was comm. War weariness can be over come but corruption makes all but my core cities useless.

I've been playing on regent. I'll move up in my next game and see if it works as well. My intermediate gov is allways Monarchy, maybe I'll try using Rep this time.

Republic is nice but remember to make sure you have enough cities to cover most of your troops.... republic supports 1/3/4?5? troops per town/city/metro.... if you switch to republic and have a lot of troops that are not supported by your cities the 2gpt troop support cost may eat up the bonus corruption/comerce bonus that republic gives you.... it is alos a good idea to make sure you have all your core city tiles roaded and marketplaces help quite a bit too.... If you don't watch out for this you may find that after you switch to republic you are losing money and your opinion of republic will not be good....(my first experience with republic was much like this and it took me a while of reading here in the forums to give it another chance)
Personally I like republic a lot better than monarchy but I'm finding in the upper levels that I'm starting to like monarchy more and more.... The higher the difficulty usually means you need more troops (unless you crank down on the AI agression) because the AI has TONS more than you do and can produce them much faster.... (of course strategy can help with this but it usually slows down a conquest if you don't have overwhelming numbers and this can lead to war weariness in republic :( )

Commie is realy good for a Huge empire but you need to keep in mind b4 you switch that if you have a large treasury you might want to rush some things b4 you go commie.... With pop rushing the hurry method for commie you will only be able to use your money on lux/science sliders and troop upgrades.... other than this I've found that commie with a large civilization is a very powerfull combination...
One other thing I would like to tell you is b4 you play much in commie make sure you have the latest patch for C3C.... otherwise when you complete the SPHQ you will find that you corruption actually goes up throughout your empire! It is a very unhappy thing to have happen in a game you spend much time on.... especially when you find that after you install the patch you cannot go back and finish your game.... :(

I find the real key to a successful republic is to grow a lot of CITIES, not towns. Concentrate on growing your towns into cities (7+ pop) and you will gain the ability to support two more troops for free. I start out ring by ring from my capital. Irrigate for fast growth, then with a temple and a market and a few luxuries you will be able to keep 7 people happy. Move out ring by ring. Grow workers on border towns and move them to the core to fill in pop. Or use slaves to fill in pop. Becareful of unrest if warring that nationality. Before long, with 30 cities you will be supporting 90 units. This is very adequate for conquering a standard map and a very powerful strategy.
