I signed a MPP with a polite neighbor to get some help fending off an attack. A few others are about to attack my partner and drag me into a bigger conflict. Can I sign MPPs with these others and keep peace with them or is it all about who attacks who first??

Please confirm......a MPP is triggered by an attack in the HOME territory??

In other words, I can attack and finish off a wounded attacker (who is under a MPP) if they are 1 tile outside my city (in my territory) without getting other civs involved??

Is there any way to improve the accuracy of bombardement? Will it be a better chance for a hit if i move my artillary right next to a target, or will it hit just as well two squares away. Does other present ground unit help? Does it matter if i cant "see" the tile i'm bombarding? Or is the chance equal no matter what?

wxwindmill:

It's all about who attacks whom, where, first. So signing additional MPPs with other belligerants will simply ruin your reputation, once you are forced to declare war on one of them.

If you attack an enemy inside their territory, then any MPPs they hold are triggered. If they are inside *your* territory, then they are the aggressors, and their MPPs will not trigger.

(All this is IIRC. ;) )

Salte: (again, IIRC) the bombardment chance is equal. I don't recall any modifiers to the chance of a hit. If I am wrong, though, someone will be sure to correct me. :D

i could only get thru the first ten pages of this thread so i apologize if this has been asked before

i'm having trouble getting my jet fighters to defend area surrounding a city vs bombers. i've tried fortify and the air superiority icon

what is the best tactic vs enemy stealth bombers?
thanks for your time.

This thread is made so that you can just ask your question without having to read it (read first post). So - np.

You should use air superiority. Make sure you have SAM missile batteries in your cities. Stealth missions will be hard to intercept always, so the best tactic is to conquer the cities the stealth planes are based in ;)

cool thanks for the advice
i'm attacking from strength and my cities are in no danger, they merely bomb the surrounding terrain on a few of my distant islands

my main problem is that even when in a city my jet fighters don't fly off and defend bombers like their cities do
and now my navy has moved into within range of their coasts but are getting pummeled by droves of bomber runs
my loaded carriers seem to offer no protection
it's my first time this far into PTW , was hoping there was an easier way to attack air units.
ty :)

If a fighter stays in a city and has got the AS command, it would show 'activate fighter' when right-clicking the city. AS-Fighter on a carrier would show the same if the carrier hasn't moved/skip-moved. At least at some patch-level, the AS-fighter would show just 'wake' after carrier movement. I guesstimate it forgot the AS command(?) - anyways, I now got used to (re-)assign AS commands after carrier movement, eventually every turn (not if carrier is fortified). Don't know if this tedious procedure is still needed (I use carriers very rarely), but fighters may intercept then.

this was probably said somewhere, but i cant find it
Question: On the demographics page, F11, how does the game determine the 'military service'? im always in last place in that and i dont know why. how can i get better?
thanks

Thanks for all the help! The War Academy is just awesome--a whole host of good tips.

One question--do you play with the 'accelerated production' button 'on' or 'off'?

@Rocinante: The "standard" setting for a "normal" game is having accelerated production switched to OFf.

@Peebo: I'm not really sure how it computes military service. However, if you're looking to make sure you've got enough units compared to the AI, you get better information through the military advisor.

Are there any patches out for Conquests yet? I see your patches page has a 1.12 but the filename has a rather suspicious "beta" in it ...

There aren't any official patches out yet, hence the "beta", but I still recommend downloading the 1.12 one.
It improves the corruption (not totally fixing it), It fixes the double gold per turn thingie, and many many more ;)

Download it now! :)

Righty. I was more like wondering wether it was an official patch for a beta game or a beta patch for an official game, if you catch my drift. I think too much.

 To clear things up (if they aren't already), it is a beta patch for an official game, that being Civ3: Conquests :)

Bamspeedy wrote an article "How does the demograph work?". Yo may look into the War Academy or Strategy Articles section - IIRC there's an explanation how military service is figured out.

They were cleared up already, but thank you. =)

I want to have a city gain enough food every turn to grow and continously build a worker for a number of turns.

The game wants to waste 20+ shields on every worker and reduce the city size and so changes my city worker deployments every turn.

I would like a "stop messing with what I'm doing you bastard - I'm playing this game not you!" button to enable, but I haven't found one yet. Is there such a feature, or something to that effect?

And if not, what could possibly be the reason for changing the player's decisions every turn? If I wanted the computer to do that for me I'd put on the guvernor.
