.....what's the difference between the Barbarian Settings? (Sedentary, Restless, Raging etc.)

I know that Sedentary means huts only, no roamers. I'm not sure about after that...

I'm not sure about the frequency of Barb villages appearing at the higher settings but when they spawn horsemen at the beginning of a new age, the higher the setting the more horsemen are spawned.

Is there a way to use a graphic modpack with a user-created map in conquests?

Thanks

Does the Conquistador treat all enemy teritory as roads, too, or is that just in Soanish/neutral territory?

@Kudos - Yes, there is. Check Question #8 in the FAQ.

@KoA - Yes, it does. Very useful for blazing in, snagging some workers, and a quick retreat. Or for pillaging that resource.

That's right. Just remember to blaze out of there pretty fast. The AI loves butchering Conquistadors that get cocky and stick around(speaking from painful experience). ;)

Restless just seems to be "normal"... some huts, some of them walking around.
With "raging" you may encounter *huge* stacks of Barbarian horsemen....
Happened to me in one of my last games... Was at war with the Celts in the west and in the east there were 4 or 5 Barbarian SODs with a total of 100+ horsemen.... One of those stacks concentrated on pillaging my support lines, while another one successfully attacked a town of mine, killing all defenders, dropping the pop from 6 to 1, abolishing my almost finished aqueduct and took some 350+ gold.... ouuuch! :(

So, my advise is as soon as you have raging barbarians on, make sure to get rid of their camps ASAP! (And don't touch the camps near potential opponents ;) )

WTH is a slave?

Either a captured foreign worker or (if playing as the Mayans) a captured enemy unit which is made a slave worker then

o well its never happened when i capture a worker

Under the assumption that you play C3C, you have a slave when capturing an enemy worker. In C3C he get's a different appearance, works with only half the speed of one of your "own" workers but costs you no upkeep.

yeah. you probably have civ.3 gold, vannilla or play the world. I have gold and it does not say that they are slaves. They do however keep their nationality. If you click on them it will say where they are from. Or if you are in your military advisor screen it will show you how many enemy workers you have captured. I was playing a scenario last night on civ. 3 gold edition and this scenario made them slaves. I have never seen it before either slaves are new edition I think they were put in civ.3conquests. Hope this helped.

First, thanks for a great site.
I play vanilla civ 3 1.29
Can someone tell me what the exact criteria are for being able to stand in the UN election when my civ hasn't built the UN.
Thanks

Um. Im not sure if you can stand in the UN. I think the UN is just a victory condition. If you build it you win by diplomatic means. I always turn that victory condition off. I played with it on one time and had a great country. I built the un was elected Pres. of UN and then the game was over. I was so mad because I was not done conquering the world. Ever since, I have not played with diplomatic victory being allowed. All that being said, Im not sure if I answered your question.

Thanks Eman and thanks for the link
(I would add one of those smiley face things at this point if I knew how)
Is power for this situation determined as per the histograph screen?

Just wondering -- but since in the modern era some of your units can choose an improvement to bomb, can you bomb a Nuclear Power Plant and cause the city to be affected by the overload?
